Ok gurus, possibly I'm getting ready to latch on to a 35 coupe.... It has a really nice original hood and a pair of fibergl*** front fenders BUT no grille

So my question is can I run a 36 grille with the 35 fenders and hood....... Or will stuff have to be modified..... And if I gotta modify what needs to be moded ?

    Thanks in advance

they will not interchange. The hood is different too. Think of a square peg in a round hole cuz thats about what you are up against.

uncle buck is correct. 35 and 36 share nothing from the cowl forward really. different lights, hoods, fenders and grills. either way you go it won't be cheap. but it seems that 36 stuff is easier to get a hold of..

About the only thing thats the same in the front of the two is the frame.

Nothing interchanges north of the cowl, it's all year-specific. If you already have a 36 grill, you can change out the fenders (2-piece) and the hood, but there's also the inner fenders, grill splash pan and of course the radiator, besides headlights, headlight stands and trim.

Do you have 35 rear fenders? I think mixing 35 rears with 36 front fenders is weird looking (and vice versa), but thats me. I would keep it 35 if thats what it is, but the snag is that 35 grilles are $$$ in good condition, more so than 36 for some reason.

35 and 36 coupes share the same cab, doors, trunk lid, running boards. Fenders, hoods, lights, tail lights, bumpers, etc. are specific for each year. Personally, I would leave it a 35 if that's how it started life. But, as a practical matter, you might want to make up a list of what parts you have for each year, then lists of the parts and prices you will need to either make it a 35 or 36. If one list is much more expensive than the other, the decision will be easier. If the costs are close, then you'll just have to decide which you like better. Good luck with your project.

As was already said they are different

The 36 grille has a different top shape and mates to filler pieces between the grille and fender and the 35 mates directly to the fender so you would need to modify the top ad sides.

thanks guys, plenty of great info here.... I dont know what im going to do as of yet.. my biggest concern is the price of a descent grille..... ive seen the 'gl*** surrounds with the (Yuck) billet insert (yuck) arent priced too bad but like i said yuck.........

well after the first few replies i thought, the hell with it ill sell the gl*** front fenders and order a set of new gl*** 36 fenders and pick up a 36 grille...... but that still leaves the price of a hood for a 36..... Guess like Hell on wheels said, i need to add up the pice of a 35 grille versus that of a pair of 36 fenders, grille and hood... see which comes out better

anyone know of any repops on the 35 grille, i may just have to save my pennies up and buy one
