Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Norrland, Aug 11, 2010.

  1. Tomorrow or on Friday this car will arrive at my door. It's a original car except 12v and the lowring.

What can i do with it? Hotrod, Custom,Taildragger,Beater??

Need some pics and tips for idées.

    Thinking 60's mild custom myself.

Looks like it wants to be a bomb to me. Bombs aren't even my favorite, but I think that's the way to go for that bad boy.

Ummm...Drive it?? Looks perfect the way it is. Maybe update the driveline, a 318 or 360 would be nice if the original stuff is too lame.

  4. U right there. Maybe this winter!!

  5. Drive it, less work.

  6. Clean it up a little maybe?

That is so cool I was going to ask if that's a before or after shot. It looks finished to me. Stand back, smile, then sit in and drive.

Im a big fan of Desoto', actually looking at a '53 now. If I were you i'de drive the tires off of it as is for now, but when winter comes I'de make some suttle changes. Simple things like interior, maybe some lake pipes or bell flower tips. The First thing i would do is get the side trim to line up.

  14. Have to respray the rear right panel betwene door and fender. Is a little rust issue there. Might be a set of lancercaps on it and some stripping on the rear.

    the heck out of it.

If you happen to fall upon an old Hemi it would fit nicely under that hood.

In my opinion the Desoto's and the Hudson's are the best looking cars from the factory. Just ad some whitewall tires and your good to go

New whitewalls, shark tips, and a flamethrower kit.

  21. Not sure what a bomb is these days. We called cars bombs that were the equivelent of turds in modern day speak.

But what I would do first thing is loose the pecker head behind the rear wheel, get someone with talent to lay some Tommy the Greek style lines on it and drive it until I decided I wanted it to be different.

  22. Have friend who is a good striper. I will let him do some work and maybe put on some lancer caps or popp the one's on it and paint rims black.

I'd say to bag it. But that's just me. New shoes and ditch the 10' antenna and eyebrows. Sweet looking ride, as is. Good score.

    Looks good as is, Norrland!

Splitting the exhaust manifold would be a good starting point.
Scroll down to post #5 at the following link and check the video to hear how nice:

If you'd like, you can also mill the head .60" while you're at it, or go with a finned aluminum head. Add a second carb and you're done.

A spare set of tail-light lenses equipped with blue dots would be a
super-low-$, easy way to set it apart, especially while cruising at night.

I would add skirts and a Fulton visor, angle the lowering toward the rear slightly, and maybe some Lancer caps, plus a thorough whitewall cleaning.

If it wasn't so nice I'd try to talk you into a moonshiner. 392 with a ratty cam, black steelies. Mmmmm. Drive that one as-is though IMHO.

  29. I will keep u all updated what will happend to it!

  30. That was a really cool tought. Will keep that in mind for next year. Dont have a Hemi (and no money for one) but a really nice Smallblock witt a lumpy cam and a low intake for double 4's.
