See it all the time around here...pik 'n pull gets a lot of them...people that sell them don't have a clue and want them out of their garages/driveways...junk hauler pays cash...can't save them all...makes the ones you do worth more...

Years ago I had a uncle who had a car lot. Anything that wasn't running good he would pull out his place and park it if it wasn't profitable to fix. That was in the 60s. He continued buying old cars as well even after he closed the lot. Well he had ACRES of old cars in his woods. Mostly late 40s and 50s. He had a lot of the 52-54 chevys, bathtubs as they were called, plymouths One I saw had a body without any dent anywhere. He had a ROW of 10 galaxes from early 60s and they were the newest. He also had panels. Well there were 50 to 100 that would be excelent for parts or fixer uppers. My aunt told me to get anything I wanted. I never got around to it. After a year or so she called a CRUSHER to kill every last one of them. There were about 60 of them that looked like they could have been redone. Even a 50s crown victora with the chrome trim on the top. I got sick. I think more need to be saved. IF not saved at least let others get parts to use.

  9. the patina, if only it could talk.
    Yes, you have the sickness.

Pulled the steering wheel out of one of these a few weeks ago in a junk yard. Glad to see another one being used instead of crushed.

The one in the local salvage yard I pulled the steering wheel from has the same thermostat control you show in the 3rd picture. No "warm" or "cool" spelled out there, instead has a "summer" or "winter" option. Probably can't actually use it, but thought about yanking that out too just for the koolness factor.

    Good job.

:)It would have been a real shame to see it go to the crusher, too much potential there to destroy. Nice save.
