Looking to clip my 52 Fleetline with a S10 clip. I want to set ride height with just the body installed I want to do this by removing the front springs and making a adjustment rod where the shock went and setting up the front end at a height where it will sit with all the weight on it. I am looking for info on the angle of the upper control arm on a car with a S10 front clip installed. Are they level?? angle down or angled up. Would love pictures.

hey there, the easiest way to do it.. is take out the springs, and make an adjustable rod that goes in where the shock was.. threaded rod, welded to a tube.. etc.. then make the lower control arms parallel (flat) that should get ya there..

Do a search for BZNSRAT and look for the 50 coupe sub-frame thread...Maybe there will be something that will help.
We took a 350 motor and set it in the s10, then welded a piece of 1/2 in. to keep the control arms from moving when we took off the weight.
Just a heads up, you will loose the core support as a reference. Due to the cross member we had to rig an adjustable core support and get a vette style radiator, and lean it back a little.
    Good luck!

If you set the center of the front crossmember on the clip at 6 to 7" off the ground, that is a good ballpark figure. The upper A frames will be angled back. I level a clip off the center of the frame before I cut it off, and weld a piece of angle level next to one of the upper control arms as a reference.

Here is a picture of our 51 Fleetline. We added a mid 80's S-10 clip to a frame made from some of the original frame with a custom rear clip. We went with everything at stock ride height so we could drop the entire body 6 inches over the frame. It was not a true channel job but rather a body drop. Hope this helps. There is an album on my profile called the Shavrolet Sleekline Story with a bunch of pics.

Lost of great info. I want to know this cause I want to drop the car a bit lower by putting a Z in the front frame a bit more then the stock S10 Z. Not looking to channel the body.I am tall and i need ever bit of room I can get.Wound like to have the ride height at around 4 inchs. I want it low. I`ll set the control arms level or flat.

Is the track width the same or close on these cars as the s10? I have an old blazer with a good running motor in it I've thought about doing a body swap and extending the wheel base.

Fitzee, I went back through some pics of our S10 frontended Fleetline and found this front on shot. We cut 1 1/2 coils off the stock springs. You can see the lower A arms are pretty much level and they sit pretty low.

I'm looking to do the same to my shoebox. So, those that have done this, you leveled the lower arm, which should have given you the proper anti-dive angle on the upper arm. Has anyone measured what this upper arm angle ended up being once installed? I've read it should be 7-10 degrees. Does this sound correct to you?

So, does 7-10 degrees on the upper a-arms sound correct?
