Hey guys, I want to shave my handles and I like the lincoln ****ons. My question is, Might there be a style push ****on like these out there that have the key in the center so I can have a nice clean single push ****on on the door? Would I be able to make that work on my monterey?
Early Chevy door handles (including trucks) had the locks in the push ****ons...you'd have to do some sheet metal building to make them work, but I've seen them used that way. R-
It would be nice if it was flush mounted also. Ive been thinking along those same lines. I like the push ****ons, and bieng able to lock my car.
I believe the old timers used to use a trunk lock/****on from a mid fifties Mopar. Looked like a Linc ****on, but had a lock in it. Not sure of exact make/model, but there IS one that works!
try to contact my friend alex in switzerland ,he rebuilt the push ****on ,and he's a good tikis carver too: http://www.als-tikis.com awesome work .......! contact by email als-tikis@als-tikis.com from steph "the vonstripers"
Hmmm, I'm gonna have to look into this. I would love to use something existing and not have to make something.
You know, I saw these, but I can not justify spending 155$ for a pair of repop "****ONS". Now if they could be made with a key lock integrated. I might be persuaded at that price. Im not dogging them, I'm sure they are nice, but they are not stock lincoln and priced a bit high IN MY OPINION(for a polished housing, ****on and spring)
really? first off the original Lincoln ****ons are expensive because there are not a lot of them and getting harder to find.. second, cool hands prices are really good for a small run product with quality like that. Maybe you should try making some. And when you do see if you can sell them for less.
No need to get testy, others may see it different and Im sure they are nice. I merely saying that "MY" cheap *** couldnt justify that kinda cash for such a simple design. I just might try to build some. which is the reason for this thread, that and seeing what may be already available from other makes and models. Hell, I may even buy some eventually if I brutally fail at my own attempt to make something work. No need to jump *** because you have an opinion as well. Mine's different than yours and thats ok. Thanks for your input. Back on point. Any more pics of door ****on designs or ideas?
Oh I'm a cheap *** too. But I still bought 2 sets of his... I looked at adapting a few different ones at first. And wasn't gonna drop the loot on another set of originals
I looked at your 57 in your profile. You have any closer pics of them installed? Are you using door locks?
OK, if you're a "cheap ***," (similar to being frugal, like I am), then order up a copy of CK Deluxe, issue # 35, August 2009 (www.koolhousepublishing.com) ...I did a tech article for that mag on how to build a couple of push ****on door releases for less than $20.00...and in most cases, you can keep your door locks...we did these on a '64 Chevy SS... They are similar to Two Chops' "****ons" (above) but I did these way back in 1992, and photographed them in B & W for posterity, knowing someone would (eventually) use the article for what it was... The Buick has the original ones... the ones from Cool Hand are much easier to mount. I have an electric lock kit I was planning on putting on but haven't gotten to it yet. Mostly I just keep her in sight.
1950's Chrysler trunk ****ons. They are still in all the old junkyards. They have the key slot. There was an article in one of the little books of the mid-late 50's that shows the Chrysler trunk ****ons being installed on a '53-54 Chevy car. The only problem is that they aren't flush...the ****on protrudes past the bezel. I got mine from a friend's '55 Windsor after we decked it, and found another matching one at a swap meet for a pair. The local locksmith said he could do the cylinder stuff to make a matching key for both ****ons for cheap. I like those lincoln repops...well worth it. But I wanted a keyed cylinder as well, and I don't like to spend money.
