I have been searching through the old threads on just this subject, but never found anything real solid on just what brakes I could use on my old model a banjo rear end. I want to get rid of the mechanical brakes and put juice brakes on it. I have heard of guys using old truck parts, jeep parts, and so on. Could anyone tell me if they have tried a particular vehicles brake system on a model A ford rear end? Thanks all
I did a search for you, its not a direct fit... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124112&highlight=brakes
Thanks for doing that search! Don't know if it helped "eng13capt" out, but it worked for me Lot's of good stuff there
I tip I learned when I did mine, (years ago) Was to mount the backing plate upside down, and mount the wheel cyl, with the bleeder on top. If you do it the conventional way the wheel cylinder and brake line is in the way of the rear end arm that mounts the spring. Also a piece of semi heavy gauge sheet metal formed around the axle stub will space the drum out far enough to clear the backing plate, so it doesn't rub. I got my brakes from a 40 something Ford and was very pleased with them. Iceman
