Here's the deal. Going to paint flames on a 50' F1, chopped , blown flathead, new HOK Tangelo paint. Nice ride !
Got the flame design down, thought about ghost flames, but the owner wants something more noticeable in the flame color.
Have'nt seen too many trucks or rods that were orange with flames.
    Any ideas or pics ?
(Have been told that silver with a white stripe looks good, but would like some other suggestions)
    Thanks

I see it's a customer truck so you don't really have much say in the matter, but personally on an orange vehicle I'd like to see cream-colored scallops. Flames ought to be a lighter color than the paint, IMHO, and cream flames on an orange truck would look pretty eighties. That being said, I'm not much of a flame fan anyway, so feel free to ignore me.

I myself am a fan of green flames on orange as well.
There was a really nice 'glass (oh no!) willys coupe at the detroit autorama last year (great 8 finalist... and I *think* it was last year) that was tangelo pearl with lime time and ultra orange flames. Real nice color combo.
A lime candy over a silver or gold flake base would look real nice too, with a white pinstripe to pull it off the tangelo base. My .02.
I'm digging through some of my pictures to see what all I have, and to see if I have some of that Willys.

The complimentary color to Orange is Blue,
but I like the sound of Rat Fink Green Candy over silver flake. :D
With BIG coarse flakes on the tips, blending into smaller flakes at the front.

Candy Blue w/ the window's tinted like-wise. Or Candy Purple. Or, Combine the two for 'Burple. What color is the interior?

Do something REALLY different... like black flames with orange flake in them. That would look killer with the contrast against the orange. Pinstripe with white after

Blue Pearl in clear over Black flames.
Or a Violet to Blue Pearl fade, over Black.

I think light blue, and white play well with orange, graverobber63's idea with black flaked licks sounds cool too. I know you don't want ghost flames, but I think the way these were done looks killer:

i would either go with the hok limetime green with a pearl, or with a dark turquoise...but that's just me.

Thanks guys for the ideas. I'll bring them up to the customer and see what he thinks. Fade that pearl lime green back form the front could look damn fine !
