I have 1942-48 ford rear backing plates.
and i have 1931 ford rear hubs
I plan on adapting them onto a model A rear end.

my question is can i use the stock model A rear hubs on 1942-48 drums?
if so, which year drum will accept it?

I want to use the model a hubs, to save money w/o purchasing another set of later hubs.

Nope ,don't believe so. 42-48 drums are the same mount on backside of 42-48 hub. Now if you have a lathe and/or a mill you could probably make the A hubs work otherwise get the correct hubs.

I think you are confusing hubs and drums here. The hub has the tapered hole that goes on the axle that the drum mounts to. If you compare a A hub to the later ones you will beable to see the diffs. If you have access to a lathe and mill you probably could make something work. 42-48 rear hubs or hubs with drums are not that hard to find or that $$.
