I said no shiny BLACK paint and red rims for my old " beater project "

I like black, whether it's shiny or not. Just change the color of the wheels and you're set.

 

It is hard not to like a truck that is done as well as that one is.

 

Don't do it man, your truck has great patina...You did say "beater"..

nice looking truck no doubt, but if it were mine it would have black wheels and bias ply tires for sure.

 

That's the beauty of black, you can paint the rims any color you like now.

 

Looks right to me also--- sort of like Deuce Roadster fleet colors.

 

That truck would be right if you put bias plies on it ... or lowered it to hide the radial tread.

 

Deuce,,It's ok to look at shiny black paint and RED wheels,,that's just who you are,,but it would make a cool beater and after all isn't that what you really have in mind?

Besides,,just think when you show up at the cruise-ins nobody will know it's you,,

Perfect, The bumpers don't look like chrome on this truck, they look like nickel.

 

Did they paint the rust on the fender? weird

 

I'm old enough to remember what it was like "back in the day" and I distinctly recall that red wheels, or rims (depending on where you were from) were seen all over the place to the point that it was somewhat unusual to see any other color. At least that's the way I remember it. As Randy says, your mileage may vary.

I am finding that out

 

Black with red wheels is still THE cl***ic combination, overused or not.

 

In 3 weeks I'll have current photos of the local restored Mercury pickup, green with cream wheels always looks good on Ford half tons IMO.

On my '48 I installed an off-road style steering stabilizer/dampner and it did wonders for this.

 

It was rare to see a pick up in chicago in the early 60s but this is beautiful.City kids usually only had enough money for 2 hubcaps so we all painted the rears red because we wanted to look like racers!Dan

 

randy, step back from the computer. you do not want a shiny black and red PU. if you are going to paint it... go more commercial in your color choice. maybe a tan or greenish grey.. black will keep you from enjoying it as much as you really want to.. or best yet.. just keep it as is with a completely fresh drivetrain..

 

You're going to do it. You know you are. It's in your DNA. build it sweet, Randy!

 

Wheels would look better black or cream IMO.. but if it were mine, I'd also lower it more and get the lettering off the doors

 

I vote for green paint, green wheels, & green or black guts.

yea great truck! but the tires got to go! they take away from the truck!

 

Other then wide whites I wouldn't change a thing.
