The oldsmobile world is now smirking and chuckling - seeing that Hemi Cudas and Shelby Mustangs are now comparatively cheap and plentiful!!!! That's unreal money. The B-J commission (8& buyers premium) on that car alone is higher than the sale price of quite a few of the cars they've sold!
Yeah I saw that! Anybody got a pic of that thing? I'd like to use it for my desktop wallpaper on my PC.
Here's the ad on the B-J site http://www.barrett-jackson.com/events/scottsdale/vehicles/cardetail_list.asp?id=178112
deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep pockets! I'll bet the barrett-jackson family is hard up! i guess if i had it i'd spend her too.....
Its funny isn't it? Its not just how rare a car is, or how historically important. Its also to which people those cars are appealing... What does a REAL Delahaye go for?? Wouldn't you rather own that than a flavour of the month version of it??? Not that it matters, we might as well be talking about flying the Space Shuttle, I'll never get to do that either...
That's not just any '54 Olds. A factory concept car with what appears to be a '54 Corvette body could very well bring huge money. I think you could build one from scratch for about 1/3 of that price. The gold chainers are gettin' with it! pigpen
I can somehow understand the '54 Olds bringing the money it did, one off, lots of history etc. The Coddington Delahaye knockoff looks out of scale to me, about 1/4 too big. The muscle car deal just makes no sence to me. I'm happy with my toys and friends. The Scottsdale Auction won't have any effect on my life, just cheap intertainment, at someone elses expence.
Is it just me, or would that interior, with the verticle gauge layout, look righteous is a 34-36 roadster? Man, it sure inspires me for my fenderless project.
That car was incredible. You could see how inportant it was to the guy in how bad he wanted the car. Talk about a moment for him. It is going to be the centerpiece of that museum he is creating. Larry
