I have a 56 Oldsmobile Super 88 324. My carb is giving me issues. I had vaporlock this afternoon and its running rich. Its a 4 quadra jet carb. I turned the idel fuel mixture screw 1 1/4 on both sides and I'm still having issues. Car is ideling rough. Can anyone explain how to adjust the carb. No one seems to know anymore how to do this including myself.

Hi Dave, when you say vapor lock, did the pump stop pumping fuel to the carby?

If it is the stock carb it is a "4GC" not a Quadra [jet] Much different carb. Turn both screws out a bit at a time untill it either smooths out or gets worse. 1&1/4 is just a starting point you may need to go in from there also. Running rich may or may not have anything to do with the idle adjustment. As I have said many times go to Ebay and get a "Motor's" manual that covers the year of your car. '56 to 61 would do.
