  4. I did not see this thread when it started months ago. Love it! The old boats are almost as kool as the old cars! When you get into the cl***ic barrell backs and solid mahoghany you start getting into some real money, but the 50's and 60's fibergl*** are still laying around and can be had cheap!
I love the old race boats and you can find some that don't cost an arm & leg. I just bought a 1950 all wood Willis race runabought with a 1955 Mercury 25hp. motor for 3K. It has been restored and is in excellent condition, ready to show and run. I will be towing it behind my '51 Ford mild custom to both car and boat shows this fall.
If you enjoy these old boats, check out woodyboater.com, it's a great site and the writer is also into the old cars and trucks.
I will post some photos of my Ford and boat as soon as I get the towing hitch on the '51 finished.

  5. I learned to water ski behind one of those, ............. back in 1960.

'Course it was powered by the All-Mighty Mercury Mark 78!!!!! :D

    Here's my 61 Century Sabre.
Powered by a HAMB-worthy 352 FE. For sale if anybody wants a great boat...

  11. I can't stop searching for vintage boats! I probably should just stick with my electric trolling motored canoe for simplicity's sake, but I have some questions if I do get a boat. Are fiberglas hulls usually structurally sound and just need a paint job? Approximately how much in materials would a 14-16' boat paint job cost? How much cash does it take to buy a decent outboard for putting around? How difficult and expensive is it to do the rigging? What about finding and fitting a windshield if it's missing? Interior schminterior, some wood and flotation cushions will do the job.

I picked up this one last month. There are no hull ID numbers anywhere that I can find. It is all fibergl***, 14' long and is a dual ****pit design. It has a 1957 35hp Evinrude on it, I put new coils in and got it fired last week. I just picked up a gas tank for it yesterday at a swap meet and now can see how well it will run. If anyone can ID the boat let me know! Plans will be for a new paint job and upholstery if the motor turns out to be a good runner.

Alright, I'm forced to show off my boat. It might just be the best boat on the HAMB; I know I always have a good time floatin' it. Sorry, don't know the year, but it's a 15' Sears aluminum canoe, and I found an old Sears "Ted Williams quality" trolling motor to match. Rounding off the power is a Sears Diehard deep cycle battery. Pinecrest Lake is the best, and it's free. Ahhh, simple pleasures.

Anyone recognize this boat? I like the side trim and the dual-cowl arrangement.

Yeah, it's called the Haserot Beach Junk Pile, and it's near the Old Mission Penninsula.

Since we are talking about boats. Does anyone know what kind of boat this is. I thought it was close to the Dorsett boats, but its not quite the same. I have more pics, but this is the only one I have handy. This particular boat has been s****ped, I just couldnt save it in time, but I always liked it. Thought it would look good behind my '57 Chevy.

Anyway, any help would be great..

There isn't a bigger sink hole in the world then a boat (well, maybe a house) but that is truly a shame.
