I have a 72 chevy C-10, with a hot sbc in it. Would a hurst dual gate shifter be functional in it?? i have never seen one up close or seen one work ? are they as good as advertised ?? thanks TJ
I know it's not exactly the same but I ran a Vert a Gate in my '67 Chevy 10, switched to the Competition Plus because it just works better on the street.. for me. Paul
a gazzillion ppl on here and only 1 can reply. c'mon ppl all i want is sme constructive critisism. Are they pieces of crap or not??
The only issue I could see is the shifter being to short....unless you mount the thing on a pedastal and run a long shift cable, you're gonna be reaching way down to the floor to shift....and you'll want to shift it manually right? I mean thats why you want the dual gate.... Otherwise, I like them. I run one in my Cutlass, and it works great when I want it too. BTW, mine is an older one....I have no idea what the newer versions are like, or of their quality.
thanks for the reply, i was kinda figuring on it being a little short. but i was mainly concerned with how they work and if they work good. thanks
I had one (Hurst) in my 40 Ford coupe about 30 (was it really that long) years ago. It worked exactly as advertised, made for positive shifts when you need them, and easy enough to be driven by my wife when required. My car did have the shifter sitting pretty low (top of the shift ball about even with the top of the bench seat cushion), but it wasn't anything that you couldn't fix (space it higher) or get used to (what I did). I got rid of it (gave it to a buddy) when we were changing motor/trans/steering column and went to a column shifter. Kind of wish I had it back...... But they are available new, and not too expensive.
