I grabbed some Radirs off of a fine looking A sedan elswhere on the site, lowered, added skirts, shaved hood, gas filler, antenna, and shortened the trim back to mid door. Don't know photoshop well enough to change colour , but I like the orange/cream. Like a few others, I couldn't resist the call of the chop.... (so easy to dream in MS paint, isn't it?) and did one of those.
SteveB, that is what I was thinking when I brought up doing the roof in a dark red flake with same bottom.. Looks great but now knowing the interior has a orange color how about one more idea How about a dark orange flake roof? with the creme/tan bottom.. (burnt orange) Squigy, you got lots of good ideas going here. I think the condition of the body when you get it home will determine whether to go primer bottom and hide body issues or paint roof to give it a 60's custom feel (if the bottom is nice, it will look like a finished car real quick and not to much extra money). Hard part is going to be getting it on the ground and driving good.
Boones i agree.the body will determine everything...i like the tan bottom with a crazy burnt orange or bright orange metal flake idea..steveb where are you? i will probably do the poor mans drop for now.i still have to buy all the componants for the air bag set up.i want to focus on the motor trans and rear for now. my buddy is going to paint it for me.so that is why i want ideas..keep um coming..
The orange and white/ivory! No i didn't notice you changed it into a two door till you said it..... But looks damn good two door guess thats why!
Satin Orange body Some version of white/ivory metalflake roof. Our 50 chevy was a flat pinkish/salmon/peach with a metalflake white roof...looked good.
Squig....how about leaving it the cream color and flaking with candy the section that is indented for the fake wood look. That area looks brown or an ugly orange now. Lots of striping with chrome reverse wheels and wide whites. Clark
Clark, nice to here from yah...thats a thought pretty inexpensive too. steveb nice i like that, you do good work man.. slacker_53 wow i never thought hunter green looks good.i like the door.. keep um comimg..Thanks to all..
I am still thinking the flat/satin orange bottom, stock roof is my prefence of all that I have seen. The farm wagon green/white combo is cool As I look at my roof line and vision the burnt orange or dark red, it just seems like to much roof for that.. Great for a flatter roof wagon or car but these roof are so bubblie it just seems odd. not to say it will not work.. would just need the right color/flake combo As for the Jesse James wagon, looks odd with that much chop and with it sitting so low.. I had dreams last night of 50 clowns climbing out of the doors and roof panel with a monkey sitting on the hood playing a music box...
damn Boones,i want to take what you are taking to go to sleep! i am leaning towards the flat orange bottom too.now i have to find the right orange... Boones or anyone else have any ideas of paint companies,i have always used Dupont centari, but i have heard lots of good comments of H.O.K`s..i think H.O.K is making flats in one shot..anyone know about this?
That color scheme has been my favorite, too. Although, that green body & tan top is cool, too. How about tinting white primer with a bit of candy orange or an orange toner? Another thing could be an orange pearl with no clear coat. That would be semigloss & not really flat, but the in the light it would still jump a bit because of the pearl. Dark Green with a little blue, satin, leave the putty colored roof and paint on some simple scallops in that putty color, outlined in a color to match the wood. supremes on blackwalls, slight rake.
gonna bring this back up since I can not stop thinking about the potential As for the orange, Take Chevy Hugger Orange (69 Camaro color) and add flattener to it. A buddy painted his buick suburu blue and added a flatner or something to get a satin finish, I will have to ask next time we talk...
Kool i will look into that color it should be easy to find.i have a few guys i can ask to get it for me.let me know what paint and flattner he used. Boones what do you think of that light blue with the scallops?i think it is kool nice combo.
dont think the scallaps look right overlapping, but you can always get some pinstriping tape and play with it to see if something works As for the light blue. not sure about that in a flat tone, maybe shiny.. but would it work with your interior color.. .. more I think about it... Not my first choice... I tend to go with safe decisions. If orange bottom or dark red roof can be consider safe but they are proven winners..
OK i am goin with the orange bottom i got my paint guy pricing it up tomorrow.it will be Hugger orange or Omaha orange with the flattner.we may redo the roof in Bone and clear the piss out of it.... i would like to Thank all who posted there ideas..
