I hate to do this but I need some help in my decision making process. I have the chance to trade my 32 5 widow which was on the cover of Street Rodder last June, for an all steel true 1941 willys ex g***er with north west do***ented history. I looked at the car last weekend and there is no rust, and stripped in bare metal. The car ran in the Northwest in the early to mid 60's under the name Mauro and Wilkinson; It was the Chaquita banana car. With the deal comes a set of Magnesiums, 331 hemi, and nos parts, and everything to fiish the car. The car does not look as it once did in 65 but I would bring it back to life. My 5 window is a complete and finished car.
My thoughts are that there are not a lot of true 41 willys g***ers with history out there but there are a lot of 5 windows. Any help is appreciated! Thanks you

Thompson, I've seen your 5 window and am a huge fan of it but that Willys is harder to find. I'd make the trade.

As much as I like a Willys, I'd keep the '32 5-Window. Your '32 looks too nice as a turn-key car to trade for any start-all-over project.......unless you really got the itch to start from scratch on another car. Heck.......beg, borrow, or steal the money to GET the Willys AND KEEP the '32! That's the smart thing to do. I'm sure you have been bombarded by people wanting contact information for the Willys just in case you p*** on it.

  15. A willys with history is a once-in-a-lifetime deal. A '32 5-window (even one as uber-cool as yours) is replaceable.

    DO THE TRADE!!!

  18. I have a steel 32 myself but would take that Willys anyday. A new project is always exciting.

I'd trade for the Willys, as fast as I could get my *** over there with a trailer to pick it up.

I think you should keep the '32 and tell us where the Willys is! I've seen your coupe at the Voodoo run once and damn it's nice! I'd loose alot of sleep over it, but I think I'd trade.

  25. 32 5 window..lets call it $40,000
41 willys...$75,000 (finished to the same caliber as your 5 window)
and the best part is only kiwi kev and like 5 other guys on the hamb have a real willys g***er and 3,500 others have a 5 window
    just my .02
    tk

  26. I have seen the Willy's about a year ago. It hasn't moved. Pretty complete, solid project with N.O.S. stainless and a lot of parts. I know the price at the time was $60,000.00. So, is your 5 window worth that. If memory serves me right, the Willy's was headed in a pro street direction? That would need to be reversed. I saw pictures of the car in its day...very cool. Canary yellow, chrome reverse rims, straight axle. I say make the trade if you have the time and at least $30,000 more dollars to do it right.

Well it appears he has a 32 or two already so everyone knows the value of the deal. Id look at it this way. The completed Willys will pull more then your 5 window. Just work out how much more, minus the build cost and thats how you could value it.

From an emotional perspective Id be all over that willys....

Just a comment, why does everyone always bring up the value line when talking about cars. I agree we all like the value of these cars but I would think the personal preference of what you really want would far surp*** the perceived value. I would much rather have what I wanted rather than more money in the bank. Having said that, I prefer deuce 5 windows over Willys. I never considered a Willys anything other than a drag car and still love to see them at the Hot Rod Reunion. Here is a mint stocker that runs around SO CAL. My 2 cents

Uuhhh your actually debating this? How many '32's do you see compared to a Willy's? Keep us posted when you trade and tell us about your build. Man, some people. You can lead a horse to water..........
