413 Mopar

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by coololdcars, Aug 16, 2010.

  1. Ok i have this 413 engine/trans combo. I just started to clean it up a little so i can fit it in a stude gasser i'm screwin' together. It has this huge water pump, so i e-bayed a car one to replace it. Now i have a huge water hole left over in both heads?????. Also the headers i have won't bolt up either, they have a straight across bolt pattern, the heads are zig/zag. Can i replace the heads for the ones that fit my headers and won't have the water holes in them????? I love these mopars, but i can see why some guys loose alot of hair over them!!!!

Water pump housing bolts to the block. Do you have pictures?

  3. Do you have a Dodge/Plymouth 413? In your description something sounds really wrong. Big Block Mopars have the exhaust ports aligned like a SBC, one at each end, with the two middle ones right next to each other. No zigzag. Also, there are no water lines coming out of the heads and the intake manifold is dry. You can also buy an aluminum water pump & water pump housing to cut some weight down.

  4. It sounds like a truck 413 they have different heads. Rob

What you have is a 413 Industrial. The short block is normal everything else is junk. The stock Industrial pistons are very deep dish and make no power, stock 413 pistons are flat top. You have a good block and crank everything else is throwaway.

  6. yes...maybe a motor home motor....we pulled one out of one just the other day....sorry - not at shop so no pics to offer....

I just picked up the same thing, 413 with a tranny from a motor home--1971 I think that had low miles. So not something I could just drop in and something and go huh? I figured the tranny might have to go but if the mill is a dog without doing alot to it I'll just sell it to someone else. Anyone interested??

Some of the 413 motor home (Industrial) got the 8 bolt flange crank and the hemi guys will buy them as the crank fits 413-426-440 and all were forged.

  12. If you still want to run the motor, I make header flanges for them so you could take your headers, cut of the flange and weld these up.

  13. What about the water holes in the head???? Also, how much for the flanges? I do have a set of used headers that I could play with! Thanks for the reply!!

The usual recomendation is to get car heads. Probably block off plates could be used if you don't.

Wow...I knew the difference in the earlier ones (Hemis, Polys, etc.) but was not aware of the difference in the truck/motorhome 413!
Good info, right here on the HAMB...

  16. not sure how these will look...it's still in the back of one of my trucks -here's a 1971 413 out of a motor home I got a week or so back....
