After filing the points, and some fresh gas and Motorhead High Zinc Oil. she fired right to life.
Water pump is squealing like a banshee, bearings must be a little dry after 20 yrs

I hate clocks....always ticking, and chiming, and look at that case, looks like a great place to store hundreds of porcelain dolls. I think you made the right choice. BTW getting rid of anything that reminds you of an ex is always a good idea in my book.

So...it was time for a Pontiac? Sonds like it runs on mice! Great trade, I think. Who cares what time it is.

damn, that is a BIG *** clock. you should run over the clock with the car.
great trade, that car is very cool, and you already got it running.

that damage is not really that bad! start the body work from the door back and it will be really much easier. the car runs nice. you can probably get a seal and bearing locally to rebuild the water pump. bet the current "misses" like seeing the clock gone.

Yeah, my "New Lady Love" hated that clock and all it represented. She thought it was a killer idea to trade it for an old car, and she absolutely loves the Pontiac. She's all excited that's it's an automatic and she'll be able to drive it.:D

Great trade, ugly clock (in my opinion)...... hey, I've got a toaster, an empty six pack, and a red paper clip....... anyone have a '40 Coupe they don't need ?

After a month and some change, The Poncho finally rolled out for her first official Road Trip Saturday to the Lewisburg Derby Days car show; it's about 50 miles one way so I figured it would be a decent shake down run.

I've worked on this car almost every day after work and well into the night for the last month and have out spent it's value 3X over, but that first real drive made it worth every penny.

I beat on the rear qtr. for a while until it had some resemblance to the original profile and mounted a "Extremely Temporary" old chopper tail light I had laying around. (I say temporary because as soon as a self proclaimed rat rodder running a conduit exhaust and a barbed wire grill gives you the thumbs-up for the cool light combo you know it's got to go)

Every component in the entire breaking system needed rebuilt except for the master cylinder.

The rear leaf springs were rotted in half and one front coil had cracked along with a lower control arm I had to straighten and weld. (all better now)

Here's my lady getin' dirty re***embling the front suspension

The ride to Lewisburg and back was uneventful I'm glad to say, the car road great, and kept up with traffic really well. The only trouble was with the speedometer, it broke about 20 miles into the trip, you could hear something very unhappy inside.

    So far I've replaced:
    The Battery
    Headlights, and a few bulbs
    The water pump
    Thermostat
    All hoses
    All fluids
    All four wheel cylinders
All brake lines, hoses and hardware
    Wheel studs, lugs, and seals
Tossed the pressure brake switch for a mechanical one.
    Exhaust
    Tires
Front and rear springs, shackles, shocks, and link pins

    and the list keeps growing............

I'll be moving the into a much larger garage space this week to start on the body.

Looking good. That was one ugly ***ed clock. I'd have made her take the thing but since she didn't you got a great score.

Too bad it didn't stay in the Toledo area. I'd have scooped it up! I check CL Toledo every week!

I've been an antique clock collector for years and I'd say you did just fine on that trade, being it was a modern clock.

Yeh, when I first saw this post I was wondering if you didn't get rid of something really valuable, but that clock....aint valuable.

Good Kharma working here, not only is your gal easy on the eye, she's happy to get dirty on the ride.

    You did good.

  23. Ok I just finished reading the entire thread. Dude....you traded a POS clock (which belonged to yer EX) for a super bad*** Poncho with hardly any needs..body work is easy!!!!, you have a cool as ever gal who acually likes to get on the creeper and lend a hand, who also is excited about your car and has a cool looking dog. I think you may have died and went to heaven. Great score and a super cool story!!
