Agreed.....hurst style front mount, narrow intake (and upper thermostat placement), and looks like a magneto sunk back into the firewall...

I'm sure it will fool about 80% of the show goers....

  4. Not too sure on the engine, but one thing I do KNOW is that KNOW is spelt KNOW and not NO. :)

Anyway, pretty neatly detailed engine, but what's with the radiator cap???

    I think it´s a 283 Chevy, maybe 301/302 either.
The manifold, waterpump, motor mount bolt holes and water p***age plugs say chevy. There´s a small vibration damper on the crank, just like the ones for 283 forged cranks.

Didn't Rod and Custom do an article on making a box that fits over the chevy heads so you can run a Hemi rocker cover ala fake hemi? Wouldn't be hard to adapt an Ardun head instead.
Either way its a little naff.....

I'm going to say Cadillac 279ci Northstar. They have tons of kits to mate them up with rear wheel drive transmissions, and they have dress up **** to make them look pretty much like a Hemi. It wouldnt be hard to adapt an ardun cover on it.

It looks to me to be a very well disgiuised sbc. If you look at what can be seen of the header flange down by the drag link you can see the charecteristic 1-2-1 of the tight tuck chevy headers. Good job of disguise, but if you can afford the machine work invlved why not go with a real ardun?

  16. Hey FNG, you think this stuff never comes up? We covered it 9 months ago. SBC, neat car, dig the "boat" influenced interior.

For a minute I thought it might be a SBC with Lyons "Hemi" heads . . .

HELLO!!!! It's already been covered (someone already mentioned that, if it matters) SBC SBC SBC and for the hearing impared ,like me, small block Chevy. Common guys remember the red oxide primered touring that everone got drool all over themselves over. Very cool car.

There are about 3 conversions that I know of to place the distributer in the front off a small or big block Chevy. It's driven off the front of the cam so you don't get the tortional cam twist that is present in all Chevy V8's. Granted it's not a gig deal in most applications but in some upscale super high performance(read roller cam hugh spring) scenerios it becomes significant. Not at all necessary for this application but it adds to the illusion.:)

and if you look close the front distributor is prolly just for looks, looks like a mag or something sunk into the firewall so you cant realy see it.

havnt seen a motor with a functional peice at both sides ;)

The motor is down by the flywheel and you didn't show it. The ENGINE looks like a Toyota with Ardun covers.

  27. Check out issue Six of Hop Up, page 104. Incredible imagination, workmanship and attention to detail, is Cams trademark in all of the cars he builds.
