Hey Guys- I'm headed to the Springfield MO. Swap meet this weekend, and I'm going to be keeping an eye out for a sun visor/shade for my 54' chevy PU. Does anyone know what model #'s will fit? I haven't been able to locate a list on the Interweb..... Is it a simple a taking a measurement off the truck? Keep in mind that in 54' they went to a 1 piece windshield, so there's no center support. Thanks, Boozer
These are unique to '54/'55 first series trucks. The visor itself is the same as '53/'54 passenger cars, but the brackets are totally different; I wish I had a picture (or part number) but the side brackets are "squared off" or, better said, have a crease in them that the passenger car units don't have. The rooftop bracket is (I think) different as well. They are expensive; I had a friend that paid about $750 for a complete '54 truck visor a few years ago, make sure you find a picture of the brackets before you shell out too much for the passenger car unit (the car units are relatively common and are around $300-400). You might check with The Truck Shop in Orange, CA to see if they have one or have a line on one. Good luck!
Well..... not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the help. If anyone can post pics of the special brackets that would be helpful. **EDIT** I found a thread over on the Stovebolt that said 54' and 55' 1st Series need a Fulton Model #1000 Confirm? Deny?
