New carpet. Really though wait for it to dry and pick it out piece by piece. Any chemicals will just spread it around.

OK crisis averted. I picked as much up as I could with paper towel and then used Naphtha on the rest. A generous splash of naphtha and then ******** dobbing with fresh paper towels removed the stain.

Thanks for the help guys. If anyone tells my wife, I'll kill you. (if she does not kill me first.) :D

Let's be honest, she's come to expect stupid stuff like this from me.

My whole house smells like a meth lab now, I hope it airs out in the next four hours.

Laughed my *** off when I read the OP. Sorry.

Now it begs the question, what were you doing with RTV in the house in the first place??

  22. Glad to see you got it cleaned up, but for next time, let it dry and peel it off. I got some on my carpet in the car once and didn't know it till about 3 or 4 days later. I thought oh ****, but it seems that stuff makes great gaskets but it does'nt really adhere to anything other than itself. At least thats been my experience. Of course this way you'll have to own up to what happened but it sounds like you've been down that road before so she'll understand............:D

Once you get by the first 3 or 4 days you can always use the standard "Oh, I told you about that when it happened" after she finds out what you did.

By Sunday you should be golden, but until then hope like hell she doesnt find out
