just thinkin as i'm painting my sons harley, he chose petty blue. didn't grabber blue by ford come out in 69, the same year petty switched to ford? one year.
Not sure, but there is a blue I have seen on the late model Mustangs, that I would bet, is the same blue as "Petty Blue".
Its chrysler corporate blue , Petty said once that his dad and him mixed what they had in the shop to get the color but later as in the mid sixtys it was just chry blue as seen in dealer signs ,and yes I have used the color straight from the alternate pages in the paint books .
while i get the lineage, still wonderin if petty goin to ford in 69 prompted their "petty" grabber blue?
That's what I always read on the subject, Ford needed a color for the new Petty ride. Not sure if its an exact match to Petty Blue, but close enough for most of us. Bob
My last name is Petty, but I don't have anything blue.....sorry. Maybe I'll cal Cudn' Richard and ask him.
My 2 cents: I think the Grabber Blue is a much richer color.... PB is a little toward the faded side... Not a pastel by any stretch though.
