Hi H.A.M.B.'ers!! I scoured the board, made sure I knew the rules, and, here I am... My son and I are doing our first Father/Son restoration together. We picked up a RUNNING 1967 Ford Ranchero 500XL - get this - for $700.00 - yep, quite a deal. Anyway, it is all original, in pretty rough shape, but we're plugging away at it as time and money permits. Just rebuilt the whole brake system - one leak, gonna fix on Saturday. We did take it out last Saturday for a test drive and that is when we sprung the leak. <sigh> The idea is to restore to original, but doing it as a "rolling restoration" as much as possible. So, cosmetics will be last on the list. We bicker about some of the stuff though... like I want to strip it down, dunk it, and start from scratch - he says I am crazy. He's right... One thing I definitely want to do is rewire it front-to-back - considering Painless harness. Any opinions on these wiring kits? Anyway, another tidbit about me and my son is that we attended the San Francisco Rod and Custom show the past 6 years, but this year it was canceled. With the economy in the tank, no one could afford to come to the show, or at least, very few... It was a great show held at the Cow Palace. We try to catch at least one Good Guys show in Pleasanton, CA too. And, we always hit the local small shows to show our support for the hot rodders of Contra Costa County. The hot rods I've always loved were ones similar to the following "famous" hot rods; Milners "Piss Yellow" 32 coupe (and most 32-34 Ford hot rods) Falfa's 55 Chevy (and no other 5X models... 55's rule! Beautiful grill, kick-*** taillights!) Not famous, but great hot rod cars; 1939-41 Ford coupes Hemi powered Bucket-T's/T-buckets - however you say it, ya know... early 50's Merc's - just so cool Most HiBoys & G***ers if they're original and legit Oh, and ...NO BILLET!!! BilletProof shows are GREAT!!! Anyway, there's my INTRO...
