I'm excited as a little girl! My son and I stacked our tool boxes into the back of the trusty 944 Porsche [I sold it to him] and struck out for U-pull-it auto wrecking this morning. He was looking for a Rochester throttle body fuel regulator and I was looking for a possible ****** to go behind my 8-BA-flathead motor for my lakes modified. I'm using a model A rear axle [with hydraulic brakes] so I kinda wanted an overdrive ******. I found a non World-cl*** ****** in an 89 mustang with a 4 banger in it but walked down the rows of cars a little further to see if I could find something better...........welp, I found this T-5 lying on the ground, all by itself! It was complete except for shifter and I scored that off the 89 mustang. I got it home and ran the I.D. tag number on the computer to find it was the ****** out of a black 86 Thunderbird turbo coupe we saw there! this is good news because the turbo coupe used a world cl*** ******! Yeah, the 4.03 ratio 1st gear is kinda like a granny gear but it'll be good for pulling over old barns. This baby goes behind my new 8_BA I got from Grimlock, who got it from Ravin61, who got it from "Tim"....... I'm getting excited! Oh yeah, I was charged $60.99 for the ****** and a mustang driveshaft with slip yoke. Plus, I can get a $15 core charge refunded back to me by bringing them a core ****** of some kind............life is good...
Repeat after me..."one project at a time".... "one project at a time".. How's the jeep p/u coming?? Brian
OK Rocky... let me be the first to say, you ****! rofl that said and out of the way, AWESOME score.. specially since ya dint need to yank it out! way to go!
Nice buy Rocky, damn good price. Now to not sound like a total *****, can a ford T-5 bolt up to a chevy bell housing? It seems like there are more ford T-5's out there than chevy's. Thanks for the info. later shawn
Must **** to be so lucky! So when I grow up I wanna be Rocky. Well, cept that whole facial hair, stand to pee (well maybe that wouldnt be so bad), pot bellied man thing. BUT I still wanna know/score as much as YOU! x Brandy
Oh yeah? While you were doing that, I stood in line at Schucks for half an hour for the privilege of paying $16 for a headlight. That modified BETTER see the road some day! Hmph...
I think you got ****ed. ...unless that ****** fits a Pontiac. See you in 8 months. Hope your modified is done.-Abone.
I knew I left that ****** on the ground somewhere, no wonder I couldn't find it when I went back. J/k Didja check it out inside yet?
It's ok! I see why it was so cheap now. After steam cleaning the bastige this afternoon, I see it's got a broken input bearing retainer where the throwout bearing rides.....damn! I gotta go to e-bay and score a new one, Jangleguy, what kinda headlight sells for 16 bucks? An E&J? Brandy, when you get a little older you'll get your wish with thinning hair, nose hair and facial hair. If ya want to stand to pee, that's none-o-my bidness.
Jangleguy, what kinda headlight sells for 16 bucks? An E&J? It was all they had in stock for a Hollywood Graham - your birthday present (okay, so I'm a little behind on the presents - times are tough in Jangleville). There goes that surprise...Shoulda got a ****** instead...BTW, remind me not to ask for your advice on installing an avatar..................................
Scotty: Don't axe me for any suggestions regarding this board. I'm still slugging it out, learning all the new stuff, including some stuff I havent' learned, like how to post fargin photos! I'm workin on it tho. Thanks for the new headlite. Happy birthday to me happy birthday to me happy birthday to rockyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy kiss my fat ***sssssssssssssssss!
Rocky, that's a common ailment on the pre-94 ******s - after '94, they got a steel bearing retainer from the factory. A new steel retainer is about $50 new, so you should be able to score one for reasonable on eBay. You don't really need a steel one, so if you can find a good regular one, it should do fine.
Rocky gets X-mas cards from U-pull-it. They renamed the Pontiac Section after him. As far as his Bathroom habits go " DEPENDS"
Aren't there shims on the bearing retainer to set the preload for the input shaft bearing ??? Been awhile since I built my T5 but I seem to remember something about that.
Speaking of T5's behind flatheads, Rocky, How did you clear the center X-member in the famous "Rocky '33" pickup? I have often wondered about that, and since I'm starting a '33 pickup ch***is, now's a good time to ask.
Yup, knew this was gonna happen. Rocky wasn't talkin bout his bathroom habits, he was talkin bout mine! Rocky, don't feel bad, I can't post an attachment either! My dumb Manage Attachments ****on doesn't bring up the other window! My new toys already broken. Posting an avatar is easy Scotty, I'll send you the longest email ever and tell you how to do it! So Rocky whats the chances of a newer Poncho motor and trans sliding right into my engine bay? After the new addition of side mounted motor mounts of course. Whew! That's a whole lot of mounting!! x Brandy
Yes! The shims do set the preload for the bearings & are located in the front of the bearing retainer. Should be close if you just replace the retainer...worth checking though.
Rocky, didn't you just sell off some stuff to get down a few projects. Now you are adding them again.. Theraphy may help but I doubt it.. you just can not say no once in awhile..
