  2. A couple cars that I remember.

    50 Ford Coupe, 335" Rocket motor, Lasalle trans, Mercury ****er rear axle, all there as delivered by the factory - ceptin' for the engine swap - street tires and in street trim = 3240#.

    Set up for the strip, no front bumper, slicks w/mags, no back seat, no spare etc. = 3040#.

    I know, 200# is a lot of weight lost just for the items pulled.
    The answer probably is, 1st weigh-in @ San Fernando drag strip.
    2nd weigh-in, in comp mode @ Santa Maria drag strip.

    Next time we hit Santa Maria the scales hit 3600# or so with no changes.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Alston tube frame 27 T fibergl*** bodied roadster with 455 Olds, T-400, nine inch, Centerlines with lightweight tires on front and slicks on the back.
    Mild engine with hydraulic cam, single quad, headers etc. weighed in at 1750# or so.
    I understand that quite a few T-Buckets with small blocks come in at 1700#+ in full street trim.
    Less weight be worth more than extra horsepower, but don't tell the youngins that....
  3. Wow.A lot of these cars are a lot heavier than I would've expected.
    Good Gravy... I finally got my truck weighed today and, factoring out the tool box and other junk / supplies in the bed, it's right around 2800lbs "wet" (full gas tank and fluids / no p***engers). It has a gl*** body, but the rest of the body parts are metal.
    JEEZ, Louise! That's about 500lbs heavier than my worst case estimate. I think I might have to look into some hop-up parts! On the good side, it rides nice. Gary
    I cant beleive this old thread of mine is still around.Your truck is pretty heavy for what it is. Just for reference ,my all metal bodied Dodge Dart drag car in my Avator weighs 2740 (without me in it ) after my creative gutting ,and thats with a mild steel 8 point roll bar and subframe connectors ...
    Stock curb weight (according to an old Clymer book) was a 2,9** I want to say 2980, but it has been years and years since I read it, but I am 99% about the 2,900..
  21. My 40 Merc was 3000 when it was a stocker. I'm guessing close to that with at SBC. Maybe 3100.
    My 66 Shelby was about 2800lbs.
    My 37 Sedan with a 302/C4 was about 3250, and they were lighter than the coupes. I'd guess around 3000 stock, eh? I know where I can knock 100 lbs of my truck, easy, but that's still a lot more than I was expecting! Time for a new blower pulley and perhaps a cam? Gary
    Jeff, now I don't feel so bad, but I think your rig has a lot more ponies to haul that weight around than I do. Hemi be heavy, eh? Gary
