That's an interesting front bumper on there. Is it original?
As for the subject of this thread, maybe build it as a '30s-'40s era Gow Job with period correct parts.

Nice find with a great story to go with it. My first car was a '26 T way back in 1966, always liked the 26-27 look. Stone stock or Gow Job , good luck with the project.

Oh great find! It's sounds like you treated the ol lady right and she was happy to see it go into the right hands. Good on you.

Find some inspiration on this post for a hop up into a Gow Job. MrModelT here on the HAMB has got one of the best looking and perfect stance T's I've seen. Can't wait to see the extraction photos, have fun!

Great find. Just my opinion though, but
please..... don't make a rod out of this
one. This is one T that definitely *needs*
and *deserves* and is *crying out* to be
    restored back to stock!

id make it a full fendered rod just like how it was pictured and basically how it sits now. cleaned up and with different wheels of course

  9. You know you will die and go to a Toyota factory it you don't restore it. :)

All of you guys saying to restore it...............do you have a clue as to how many restored Model T's and A's are out there? Thousands!!! In fact right now it's almost worth it if your buildiing a hot rod out of one of these two models to go out and buy a restored one to rod. I just talked to a friend who was at an Auburn auction awhile back and he said you could almost have your choice of A or T for $10,000 or less............we're talking restored cars here. With that being a fact it will cost over $10,000 to restore this one if your doing a correct restoration.
If it were mine and I was having second thoughts about "rodding" it I would go for the "Gow Job" look.

I plan to do a tasteful period correct gowjob as I know that to do a full 100% correct resto would cost me more, and I would really wish I had done some mods to hop it up some if left stock. I will not "rod" it though, too much history in this one for that.

I was SHOCKED at how many guys want you to restore it, must be a lot of new members here that came over from the Ford Barn. If you plan on keeping this car do what you want to do and don't worry about what anyone has to say.

  14. What is this? The early ford restoration forum?

    Rod it.

WOW! I always wonder when I see cars in fields or hear about barn finds, why people drive them there and never move them again? Thats a great find.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Do you have any Model T experiance or is this all new to you? Get a catalog from Don Lang, post your questions here or over on the T section of the Barn and you are on your way.:)

i see it has wire wheels, are you sure it's not a `27 ?
i thought the `26 still had wood spokes.
also thought the wire wheels use different hubs than the wood spokes, so you would have to switch them both.

The original pink slip - states 1926. This car comes from original owner family. I will be owner #2.

I will have to investigate the wires... could have been changed in the late 60's when he last drove it (as a daily, by the way). I know little of the Model T, yet look forward to a great education.

This is going to be a good project to watch. The wire wheels were a $35.00 option back in the day, don't know if Ford actualy made them standard on all '27's. Look around to see if there are factory bumpers or windwings, when you go to pick up the car. There are a lot of running changes on 26-27 T's seeing yours will be interesting. Second owner since new, that is something very special, a car with soul.:)

Some cars need to be restored. Something like a Shelby Cobra, '66 Chevelle SS 396, '69 Boss Mustang. A Model T? Hell no. Hot rod it.

  26. Exactly

  27. seems to be the new way of the hamb.

  28. OK...so this is the HAMB. And when I signed up it said it was about Traditional Hot Rods...no? So when the op posts a barn find (for what would make a great Traditional Hot Rod)....he gets a lot of comments about how he should restore it to stock. And I'm backwards for thinking that's odd?

    ----------------------------------------
In '26, wooden wheels on T 's were standard,
but wire wheels were available as an option.
In '27, it was the other way around, wires
were standard and wooden wheels optional.
