So theres a local old garage that had the pure oil sign i talked about before well today i got into the building and bought a couple things....

 

Got the stuff home and opened the register to find 36 bucks.....

 

anyone got an idea on the value of the 76 sign i havent been able to find another

 

probably $400-$600, the size hurts the value, hard to display. there is a petroliana show in seevierville tn the first week of sept. check out oldgas.com and look at events.

 

well i sure hope it is.....im still trying to get the pure sign and post but she is dead set on not selling it at the moment

 

if you sell that PBR lamp shade let me know.

That 76 sign would fit just dandy on the wall of my shop with 14' sidewalls. Just opposite my 6' Sunoco sign would be just fine.

how the hell do you tell if they are there in pretty bad shape

 

that sign will be hell to ship its 5 ft tall

 

When Union 76 bought Pure Oil they put two fiberglass Union 76 signs over each side of the original Pure sign. So, if you see an old Union 76 sign chances are there's an original Pure Oil underneath.

ok do you know when that happend that explains the 76 sign...at the pure gas station

 

...sometime in the early 70's I think. Whenever NASCAR switched from Pure Oil to Union 76.

 

It will say 'silver certificate" on it. Made a loooong time ago, I think they stopped in the '30s, could be wrong. Google them.
