Hey guys here is the current project i'm working on. It's a 55 ford fairlane with a 272 y block. However the block is cracked, and I need help locating either a 292 or 312 in the washington, oregon, idaho area. If any of you guys know of one let me know.
I could be wrong, but I think that top profile is the "customline Victoria." Great looking car no less (I'm actually a big fan of that top profile). A Y shouldn't be too hard to locate, especially with them becoming popular as of late. You've probably already heard of it, but there is a user-group for our years of these fords, with tons of great info in it. Good luck with the build!
Yea it resembles the Vic we had. But ours said Victoria on the side if I recall, and was tan and white. Check the cl***ifieds I see y block stuff all the time. A 312 is going to be hard to come by but you might consider a lincoln or big truck Y block. A few more inches and lots of more torque.
If you would consider a 272 I have one less crank and rods/pistons as well as a complete 272. I 'm North and East of Bellingham send me a personal message if you are interested in either or both of them.
Ya it's a 55 fairlane victoria, and spuds no I don't have any tree parts someone put the shifter on the floor before I got it.
Sorry, can't help with the Y-block stuff, but that's very clean under the hood. Where's the crack? Any chance it can be repaired? You may try a heavy equipment repair facility; those places repair a lot to broken stuff, as it's too expensive or too hard to fine replacement parts. Nice car, Butch/56sedandelivery.
looks like a real honest ol car, congrats. And like Customcrestline said , come and check out our social group. ..
Pretty car. I always liked the Victoria hardtop better than the Crown Victoria. I have a '55 Fairlane Town Sedan I'm working on. My parents bought the car new. Tell me the third character of your serial number and the production code which is stamped below the serial number, and I'll tell you which ***embly plant built your car and the build date. My father worked at the Atlanta ***embly plant 1952-1982.
There's someone on the Seattle area of Craigs List selling bare 272 and 292 blocks. NOT me! Butch/56sedan delivery.
Well after searching every day for the past 3 months I finally found my motor. It's a rebuilt 292 never installed still on the pallet. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow in a town in the middle of BFE. Hopefully I will have it going down the road in a couple of weeks.
I may be wrong, but that looks like a broke off bolt where the thermostat housing bolts up. Hope it ain't a Krylon overhaul. I also noticed the left rear valve cover stud nut is loose. Might want to pull the valve covers for a looksee.
Well. I do hope you can trust who you bought it from. It does have a few signs of recent work such as the new looking freeze plugs, however it was given a really poor once over with a rattle can just to make it look better.
