Hot Rods Rattlin' Bones

I've got about 3000 miles on the rpu now and I've developed a new rattle in the front end. The car has split '33/34 bones and a stretched '36 axle. I can grab the bone on the passenger side, shake it up and down, and see it move at the yoke around the spring perch boss.

The spring perch bolt is pulled up tight, and the little cone-shaped shim is in place, so that's not the problem. I powder-coated both the bones and axle, and they fit nice and snug when I bolted the chassis together -- but I think the powder-coat has broken down over time and left me with a clearance issue.

Anyone else encounter this? How'd you solve it? Could I slide in those U-shaped body shims so I don't have to pull the front end all apart?

    Thanks

dont see why you cant tighten the nut..........

  3. I'm guessing the yokes are too beefy to bend up snug. Were you able to do this?

I think you fail to grasp the shear mechanical force exerted by a nut and bolt of that size when it comes to clamping...try tightening that nut and squeeze those yokes shut...you surely aren't going to break that bolt, that's for sure...
