  1. Here is my Idea- any body sees what is wrong with this -Tell me now...... [IMG]I want to mount it thru the frame like an F1 Box- but even on top as we discussed in my earlier post is OK with me.
    I figure a simple tube mount welded to or through the rail with a lock nut style clamp had ought to work.........
    Here is a before pic-
    Then an after pic taken after I cut off the stock mount pads.
    They sell a bracket to mount these under the rail for a four bar- but this seems more what I need. [IMG]
    I will need to [modify mine] or buy a new pitman arm.

    If the push pull is right,mount it so that the drag link will be level when it's connected from the pitman arm to spindle. Let that determine the elevation of the box mount.

    The piman arm is going to end up up [IMG] Thats why they were mounted on the bottom of the rail in the old days. A MoPar box works backwards and are alum and maybe would work better [IMG]

    like everyone has said already;

    if you mount it like that the steering will be reversed.

    When the old style mounts were used for these boxes they mounted the steering arm pointing up and that corrected the backward steering.

  8. so in other words if I mount it near or under the rail and use a pitman arm that is up instead of the one here it will steer correctly,Huh?
    does any factory pitman arm fit this sector of is it a custom made peice....?
    BTW My wishbones arent going to be in the way as they will mount inboard of the lower frame rail[ stock 47 Lincoln]was [split from factory]

    Hello,
    I am using a mustang/comet box on my 34 with a drag link type set up. Steering is normal with the pitman facing the bottom. HOWEVER - I made a pitman that comes up and around (the frame) forming a "C" shape. This setup allows my drag link to pivot very close to the wishbones and by using heim joints there is ample movement without bumpsteer.
