I have a 351w out of a 69 cougar. Casting code of my 351 is c9oe-6015-b 5 I know that the c is 1960's The 9 is 69 O is Torino body(I know this is not always right) The e is engine 6015 indicates block But what changes were made from a to b and what does the 5 mean? I don't have a full date code but will soon on it when we get it out of the car
The last two numbers are the day and month the part was made but as for the b and the 5 I'm guessing some sort of revision.
The B is a engineering number or service number. A- means original status of part. B means one engineering change. Ford uses the alphabet for the engineering changes starting with A - Z then AA - ZZ The date code would be on the boss between the head and the timing chain cover on the left side of the engine. If the block was decked it would be gone.
