Finally finished up my little '49 g***er....

The AMT kit body was left basically stock, though the rear wheel openings were radiused.... Hood is a Drag City resin item. The nose high stance was achieved by using the g***er front axle from Revell's old tool '57 Chevy kit, while the rear axle and springs were found floating around in the bottom of my parts box.... Those wicked looking fender well headers came from my parts box as well.

Color is Testors Lacquer "N***ua Blue", cleared with Future... Once again I printed up my own decals on the computer.

Under the hood is an injected Olds made up from some of the best bits from Revell's Anglia kit and AMT '40 Willys kit....

51 Chev Convertible built about 30 years ago (back when I had a fairly steady hand)
Starting to show some wear and tear from being shuffled around for a couple decades of moves.

I'm having fun dusting these off after decades on the shelf and who knows I might start building again.

Thanks, Lyle- that Caddy with the Chezoom roof reminds me that I'd better get "Coupe Devil" finished before someone else takes the roof idea! I'll have to crack the whip on Katie!

Go to a radio shack & look for stuff called Kynar wire. it is available in several different colors & is the right size for 1/24 - 1/25 scale plug wires. It is like $3.99 for a 50 foot roll

Craft stores often have several different gauges of wire as well.

  25. Very nice stuff this week!

  26. i look for old phone wire the solid core type comes with 4 colours and can be used for a lot of things. When they redid the phones at work i could have got a couple hundred feet but i don't think i'll every use that much so i grabed about 20 feet.

Didn't those tanks originally come in the AMT 53 Ford pickup? I know I had some many years ago. The detail and craftsmanship have definitely changed in the last thirty years. I'm not worthy. I'm still having fun unpacking and cleaning my relics from 30 years ago. Great stuff everyone. I'm inspired.

  29. Dude, every one is worthy. We all have different skill levels, it would get boring if we were all the same.
Like me, you may still be climbing the skill ladder but just play along and we will get there....... one day!

    Doc.

Thanks Doc, it's been one of those days. Working on cleaning up another one. See ya Sunday. At least everyone can see what it was like 30 years ago. No Bare Metal, poor glue, not much advancement in weathering. Weathering was done mostly by the model rail road guys. I find it fascinating. There have been so many excellent examples on here. Sobpunx and Marken, great work.
