When my neighbor retired a few years ago I purchased a bunch of his tools, compressors, welders, a couple of trucks and misc stuff I really don't know what they are. Can you help me here? First up is what he called a vac pump. I plugged it in today and there is almost no vacuum on the inlet side there is almost no air on the outlet side. I could easily stop the air flow with my finger. I think its about a foot long. Is is just old and no good? What would something like this be used for? Second up I think is air line stuff. It was all in a box. Now he had a very nice compressor (mine now) but all he had running off it was a reel with a very long rubber air line. Is this stuff that I can use? I plan on building a compressor shed and running a hard line into my shop eventually. But my shop is only 18 X 28 ... Is this stuff necessary? Could you tell me what each piece is for please? Thanks for any help identifying this stuff...Mark
The only reason I can think of for the va*** pump is air conditioer work. The air stuff is Regulators and filter /water seperator. It would be nice to use these on your setup, just helps get good clean air thru your tools.
Ill have to see if I can find the exact use of the air stuff. Probably way more pieces than I will need for my small shop. I may have a website bookmarked over on the garage journal. I dont know anything about air conditioner work. The pump is really weak, so it seems like it would be worthless.
the first pic looks like an old r12 a/c or older va*** pump, they don't have a lot of power and the filter and oil might be gummed up, used to test for lecks in the system and remove air and water. i can't think of a use for it in todays world, maybe one hell of a brake bleeder with a few twecks..
Yes, AC pump. A pal has one, pretty handy if you learn how to use it. A pal has one, does his own AC work and even charged my soda machine once!
The frst one is an a/c pump, it is used to pull the system down before recharging. in the second pic the first thing on the top left is an oiler, then 2 pressure regulators, a water separator/regulator and the last 2 are water separators. the oiler you could use if you never intend to uae the airline hooked to it for painting, the rest should be used on your system. the canister with the holes in it is a shield for the water part of the one next to it.
I build a fluid resevoir for one and use it as a brake bleeder. It is both good and bad. Good because I can bleed a complete system extreemly fast. Bad because if my helper isnt on the ball filling the resevoir in the master cylinder, it will **** it dry.
