How did you make it so you could lift or move the p***enger seat far enough out of the way to allow back seat p***engers to get in?

I think my seat may move far enough forward and the back of the seat folds forward too..

but just incase its not enough , did you come up with a cool way to tilt the entire p***enger front seat forward?

the seats i have i want to use and they dont have this ability , so it will have to be made..

looking for how you solved this issue.
    pictures would be great

Exploder center seats have a nifty tilting thing for access to 3rd seat, not sure if it'll work for you but its a start. Lots of those midsized vans and suv-s have folding and or tilting center seats.

VW Beetles the newer ones have a seat that the top part tilts forward and the bottom back part also lifts off the floor to facilitate getting in a small back seat area.

Tossing around the idea of going with bomber buckets and seeing if there is a way to have the whole p***enger seat tilt forward to get into the backseat area.

Good Question though, I am at a spot that I need to get the front seats figured out so I can finish the pedals and the steering column.

  4. Look at the seat mechanism on a 70s full size Blazer, they slide and tilt.

I built one a couple of years ago......and finally gave up on the idea of making the back seat useable......just couldn't come up with a p***enger seat that allowed viable access!..........maybe it's the size of my @#$?

I'll check into that, thanks man..

got to take a trip to the pick and pull, its just been a huge muck hole after the rain over the weekend..

im lucky enough that the seat slides forward a good ways..but tilting it forward would be a big help too

  9. Walked outside and looked at mine for you;) Front legs are about 2" higher that the rear. Looks like you could prune the tracks off the seat and use on anything. Works good in my 2000 Ranger. :)

Look at the late 80's Bronco II. The front p***enger seat slides forward and tilts to allow access to the rear seat. It's a comfy seat I might add!

  13. Only the back tips forward, the rest of the seat slides forward A LONG way on the sliders.

    ahh..
well mine slides forward a good ways, but no tilt forward..does it look like the tilt forward deal could be adapted to other seat frames? i guess anything can be made to work eh?

the back of my seat tilts forward , but not the entire seat if you will..could that be done with the ranger equipment?

    any pictures of it Tman?

  15. I cant do pictures from work but try looking around this site

    http://www.therangerstation.com/

On my A I am going to use spring loaded pop-pins at the back of the seat and a simple hinge at the front. Fold down back, pull pins and tilt the folded back/base up against the dash, just like the blazer I mentioned.

would it work to mount the front of the seat to a hinge that bolts the seat to a slider, and then have a mechanism at the back that you could pull and it would unlock the rear bottom of the seat and allow it to fold the entire seat out of the way. Seems like something that could be pretty easy to fab up

I used Lumina mini van middle seats, they are individual, and cut off the mounting brackets. Made my own risers and on the p***enger side fabricated hindge brakets out of 4" angle iron. The seat folds onto itself and then tilts forward. I have a four year old and I fold the drivers forward to put her in the car seat. If you want any pictures or measurements let me know.

Having trouble uplaoding, here is a link to some photos.

  20. VRF, I put a lot of thought into this myself. The way I have it built in my head, the seat back must be able to fold flat or you won't have room toward the dash.
My seats are placed where your hips are even with the B pillar and shoulders just above the window bottom.
For the time being in my car, you flip one seat forward and step through. Kind of a pain, but it works.

I believe Jeep seats from a cj have a seperate lower frame that could be adapted to another seat. It would allow seat to tilt forward towards dash.

You let people ride in the back..... J/K

As tall as I am nobody but the grand kids can use the back seat in mine. My only suggestion would be hinges on the front legs of the seats your using with some kind of pin setup to lock it when the seat is down. Most hardware stores have a selection of different hinges to choose from.

Make your own base w a hinge. I run a middle seat out of a mini van (bench) but the base I put it on has a hinge that lets it flip forward. i do not have a backseat yet but it looks like there is enough clearance to allow anyone that would fit in the back of an A to get in. Dad's buckets fold over then tip forward like you are looking for but i'm not sure what he used, I'll see if I can find out.

New VW bugs have buckets that slide forward about 8 inches then tilt forward. If you can get in the back of one of those you can get in anything.

On my stock seats, I could get it to fold pretty far forward by tilting the base and putting the back cushion between the choke knob and emergency brake and letting the top of the cushion rest on the floor in front of the emergency brake,

  30. I'm using Morris Minor buckets. They tilt forward on very simple upside down U shaped clamps, and the back tilts forward as well. Because I have them set fairly well back for comfy leg room, it's still a bit of a climb to get in the back.... too bad, I wont ever be getting in there! :D
