That really ****s Groucho. The got a lot of ink from the major west coast hot rod mags and I always wanted to check out the place. too bad Okay, in a shamless plug for a buddy, my favorite yard is Kelseyville Auto Salvage located in...yeah you guess it, Kelseyville, Ca. The owner is Mike Rose and he is one of us. He tries to keep the old tin in his yard rather than crushing it. He's fair about his pricing but don't expect him to give anything away either. Respect him and he'll respect you. His addy is 7666 Hiway 29 and their number is 707 279 2123. Ceasar is the yard foreman and he often answers the phone. Alternatively, there is Last Mile Auto Dismantlers in Upper Lake Ca and they keep some old stuff there as well. Their number is 707 275 2259. Both yards let you pull your own parts and let you walk around to check out the cars. Good success!
Don't act so surprised. That's just what happens when you're awesome. And to answer your question, Groucho. We have both here and there around Kansas City. The true junk yards just seem to be small, tucked away and mostly picked over. But the random older car will show up at the pick-and-pull now and then.
I got nothing in my town. But the nearest one is 30 minutes away in a very small town but the guy knows whats he gots.
Hey skyguy do you ever get around douglas wy? or lusk? Theres a bunch of old car stuff I've seen around there when I come up that way visiting my familly that lives there. I brought home a nice model A 5 window coupe body from the douglas area. I used to live in sheridan when I was a kid but I can't remember how far it is from douglas.
S**** is now $11.35 a hundred ... That means a lot of older cars that have been laying around for years ... are going to the crusher. We have a place ... that buys at s**** price and sits anything old back. I saw this there the other day. A satellite view ... 60 plus acres Here is a thread about my favorite old junk yard. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116005&showall=1
2003 and later satellite pics shows the yard to be just about empty. 1990s pics = gearhead's Disneyworld, on the other hand...
