Howdy. Been reading the HAMB for a while, figured I might as well join up and do it right. Not sure how much I'll have to say, so we'll just have to see... Heres me: I live in Arlington, WA, and am a Chief Petty Officer in the US Coast Guard. Thats like the mens version of the Navy...Heh heh heh. I've got two kids, a 13 year old girl and a 15 year old son. But you guys are gonna want to know about my cars... My rides are on the new end for this bunch, but hopefully still interesting. The main rig you might care about is a 1966 Chevy truck my son and I are fixing up to be his wheels when he gets his license next year. We got it off Craigs List last year for $300, and it needs like EVERYTHING!!! So far we have rebuilt the engine, painted/cleaned up the engine compartment, rebuilt the brakes, and started cutting out rust and welding in new steel in the cab. The engine is a straight six 250, we got an Offenhauser with dual 2 bbl carbs and cast iron headers, adding a Pertronix ignition as well. Gonna have to rewire also. We're doing all the work ourselves, including piant etc, so its a lot of learning for us both but we are having a blast with it. Just hope it gets done in time! Everything takes about twice as long as you think it will. My son wants to have a kind of rat rod style truck when we're done, thinking flat green paint with white "Tommy the Greek" style scallops, steel wheels, etc etc... More pics here: http://s140.photobucket.com/albums/r28/meld1234/Davids Truck/?start=20 I also have a 1953 BSA B33 motorbike I'm (slowly) bobbing and getting going, but thats a little off topic here... When Davids truck is done, I'm thinking I will go older and build something with a flathead V8 in it. Preferably a late 40's early 50's sedan, but really I just want that flattie!!! Guess thats it for now. See y'all on the boards....
i like your plans for it, & the progress so far looks great! i have a '66 short/fleet btw, thanks for your service
