Hey fellas! Ive got a 60 f100 and Ive been sandin the interior (dash, and doors). My first question is.. What kind of primer do I use? And after I primer, whats a good quality paint in a spray can? I know there is about 10 different kinds of primer, and i dont know where to start. Any pointers or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys..
why spend all the time sanding your interior to then use a spray paint? If it is at bare metal use a self etch primer if u couldn't get all the existing material of use an epoxie primer.
if your going to spend all of that time getting down to metal and hen primering please don't use spray paint. it will not turn out as nice as you obviously want it to.
I have this whole sales pitch about how the best spray can is about 25% as good as the worst catalyzed (2part) paint. BUT, you said interior. Lacquer paint still has a good home here. It only stinks for a day or two. lacquer is durable enough for interior use, and it does come in spray cans. so... If you need to Drive it to work tomorrow lacquer primer and paint in a spray can is an alternative, but if you can let it cure out, catalyzed primer and a good inexpensive single stage (omni or nason) will last about 4 times longer. If you ever want to paint over it, stay away from Krylon, it will bite you.
I have the tools to do it right but if you don't , them go with something like Dupli Color. I was checking out the selection at O'Reilleys and it looked like something worth trying. Use their primer and top coat.
