It's pretty cool that these guys were up for it... These are getting done for the Wall of Legends for the Motorama. Trace arranged it and he set off to make the molds and they came out great! the Wall of Legends is gong to be a really cool part of the Motorama.. Heres the link to older post http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=499209 Gene with Hammer George holding his Rolliflex Camera Final Product Dean Jeffries
That's pretty awesome. After these are up, it shouldn't be a problem getting the other greats to join in. Good luck. Aloha
i was thinking if you guys were gonna make a mold of watsons hand but never got to it, why not use his sons hand in his place. i'm sure Larry would not have a problem with his son doing it. and his kid looks just like him so i'm sure his hand would be the best match
Hey Bud, if you are interested I may be able to get you Mike Alexander of the Alexander Bros if you are interested. I'd also get bill hines while youre at it. I think with the p***ing of Watson this is super cool. The great hands of the builders.. Very cool concept and idea..
Sorry but to me, that would ruin it. The idea of freezing something in time is what makes this so cool. It has to be the original or wouldnt make sense. Now maybe a cast of one of his paint guns, or brushes would suffice, but I dont know his son from squat.. I think Babe Ruths great great grandson lives near me. Do you want me to have him sign you a baseball?
Evel - This is very cool! The Dean Jeffries casting looks fantastic! ... a very cl***y piece. Did George donate one of his old ROLLEIFLEX Twin Len Reflex cameras for his casting?
I'm not the one to make these decisions about anything.. I'm just posting to show how cool the stuff that Trace is doing to for this culture and for the Motorama.. As for using his son's hand I don't know thats his deal.. But I do know that the people that are not with us are getting hands that will be "Ghosted" meaning a hand will be casted and all the markings will be removed.. sorta Like a ghost.. lets all hug.
Bill Hines is already done with and has a extra casting that is awesome.. I'll see if I can post a picture but its kinda of on the D.L. till the show..
Unfortuatly Georges camera is long gone... I heard a few stories one that George gave it to the guy that owns the Moonrocket Jerry Anolik to shoot shots in the east for him.. some of the pictures in the Little books are credited Jerry Anolik.. So we got one off of ebay... EDIT: They casted a block of wood the same size as the camera with a nail in the place where the shoot ****on is.. then they put the camera in its place when the cast is done..
Hey Man, relax, and I don't know squat. I see by the group you started you're obviously a Watson fanatic. I didnt mean any disrespect. I was under the impression this was sort of like a Manns Chinesse Theatre hands and feet in the cement thing. The coolest thing about that for me is putting my hands or feet in the same spot as the stars who originally had the castings made. Thats the point I was trying to make. If that's the thinking behind it, than I think it's brilliant, if not, it's still a cool idea.
this is such a kool idea, and the 'ghost hands' add a kind of spooky reverance to those that 'didn't make it'.I ***ume they have a Watson spray gun ? Paul
