Awesome auto archeology! Must have been a real treat searching through those tapes and finding that. Thanks for sharing it with us. Love that car.

I have no idea...unfortunately my friend who shot the footage...p***ed away about 4 years ago....

I am sure probably for most of the employees it was a chance to get outside and take a break......

Ingenious promotional idea at that time.....for both Chrysler and more importantly for Hurst......

The building is still standing now alittle over twice as large company is called H & H Plastics....I have talked to the CEO as years ago I gave them an actual copy of the original blue print of the building which he thought was neat.....kinda like getting some rare paperwork for your car.....

He is not a car guy per say but appreciates the history that was created there....they had a smaller building I believe in nearby southampton before obtaining the 'Hurst" building.....

The person driving it in that video looks just like Bill Shrewsberry, which would make sense as he was the driver for but only for 1965, then Bob Riggle took over driving. That is some amazing footage!

You could be right on the driver kinda neat as doubtful any of the Hurst employees back then realized that in the automotive aftermarket world that is history in the making.

This was probably one of the first test runs prior to hitting the various promotional tours.

thanks for this footage ,it meens more to me then i can tell you,,,

when i was a kidd, i didnt live to far from the hurst building,,and my first car was a 1964 barracuda,,,that was 1974,but what did i know,, i use to drive up to the hurst plant to see if the hemi under gl*** was out side,,

little did i know,, it didnt really live there,,, now that i have moved back to the area,, i work just blocks away from the old hurst plant,,and it doesnt look the same,,

i currently and have always had an early barracuda,,but a 1966 now,,,wish it was a 64 .. i had an uncle that worked at hurst back in the early 1970s,,, he use to bring me as a kidd those hurst T SHIRTS with the hairy arm and shifter out of the roof,,wish i still had those,,

but one thing i still have is the metal decal that was used on the hurst experimentals,, A HURST HUSLER you can see it on the rear right corner of the hemi under gl***, and the rear of the 66 toronado hurst built,,

in 2000 i became friends with bob riggle,,he asked me to tow him to and from the starting line at ENGLISHTOWN NJ, mopar meet,,one of the best days of my life,,,

some time in the 1980s i had visited my home town,,and stopped in at hurst,,i was looking for clues as to where the hemi under gl*** may be,,at that time it had not been seen in years,,,

they had no clue but the people at hurst gave me copies of all the plans they used to build the car,,pics,,etc,, and a photo graph of the 67 car in a wheel stand with bob in one corner and art malone in the other corner of the pic,, i still have all that stuff also,,,

sorry for the long winded post,,this video made my day,,here is a pic of me with the hemi under gl*** in 2000,,,,bob is now retired and sold the repop 66 and re pop 67 car,,,last i knew he was restoring the orignal 67 car he found sitting in some ones drive way in canada,,,:cool:
