Does anyone make turquoise paint in a spray can? I thought this would be an easy search but.....I know I can have it done at a paint supply shop, but was just wondering if there is any commercially made. I am doing a 53' dash for wall art for a 50's room.

Try WalMart. They have a pretty big selection of spray paint.

Find the color you want in a can and put it in a Preval Sprayer.

Seems like we had that when I worked at Lowe's. Try OSH or Sears Hardware, Michael's Art & Crafts, Internet look for Montana brand rattlecans the graffiti artists buy. It's imported from Spain but they have a rainbow of colors like you would expect for artist markers.

Krylon has a pretty good selection of colors of late with the fan spray nozzle at good prices. Use it all the time and it performs and holds up well.

Probably lighter than you are looking for, but different enough to work on the Juke box I put together from shop leftovers.

A Chrysler dealer can get you engine paint for 60's era lo-po big-block Mopars that is a darker turquoise, it'll be in the Mopar Performance catalog in the restoration section.

Try an art supply store...there are several types of spray paint available to artists that are looking for colors simply not available in hardware type stores...I think "Montana" is the name of the line I'm thinking of...

Take a look here. All the great custom colors of the '50s and '60s are available in Aerosol Sprays in nitrocellulose lacquer. I have refinished a couple of my Fender guitars with it and I painted the dash in my 50/54 Chevy pick up with their paint. Stuff works great. Wet sand and buff and it looks great (just like the "old days"). It will be perfect for what you want to do.

I second Bob's suggestion. With the Preval Sprayer, your can get the exact color you want mixed up and you are also able to use hardener, just like if you used your shop spray gun setup. Don't have to clean your spray gun. Works great for a dash. I did all my inside trim and steering column with them. One Preval Sprayer will cover as much a 2 to 3 spray cans.

We have an auto parts store that will mix your color then put it in a rattle can for you. It cost quite a bit more than a preval.

Just as a follow up, I wound up going to two Hobby Lobby's and bought 11, 3oz cans called "Short Cuts" in Turquoise. It is the perfect color for the project. To say it was a challenge to paint the dash with 3oz cans would be an understatement....each can was $3.27

Check the paint store and the pint was $40 plus esch spray can was $7.50

NAPA used to sell a paint that was an exact match for my Metropolitan's Berkshire green, at least they did 8 years or so ago.

  21. Try the cosmetics counter, my neighbour has some pretty wild hues on her toenails.

"Preval", a shortened version of Precision Valve..............A self powered aerosol, with a graduated glass bottle, ( for mixing ratios), that screws onto the "power head", (propellant)........................They work quite well!!!

Thats right! I bought some for a 56 ford PU model project, It was made by testors with some sort of Boyd Coddington tie in.

  25. Testors has made several turquises over the years, but I actually found a line of spray paint in a Jo-Ann Fabrics store that came in unusual colors - in big cans, not little ones - and picked up a couple for projects. If you have one handy I'd try them.

  26. I think it's "Torque'n Teal"

Just in case you were wondering about the 53' Merc wall art project...it was my extra dash for parts. Now I have to go to the salvage yard to get the rest of the knobs....
