So I'm trying to "obtain" a building that's been in my family. I haven't been in there in years, today I got a chance to poke around. Just took some pics of whats still down in the basement. I thought they were pretty interesting, figured I'd share. Too bad the '27 Buick that used to be down there is no more.
A 40 Ford front axle with split wishbones & a couple pair of 35/36 Rear wishbones,.... I would bet there is a lot of good stuff down there,.....
This is a 1935 Ford CONVERTIBLE dash (no windshield crank hole). That dash with it's unique center 'waterfall' trim panel is worth a few hundred bucks... grab it! Steve

I've been out of state for almost 10 years. When I left I really couldn't be bothered with most of the stuff down there but now that I've grown up a bit I really wish I cleaned that place out and put everything in dry storage years ago! Eh, when you're 17 and driving a Trans-am to high school you're already as cool as it gets (yeah right!) Even being a "car guy" at the time I wasn't really interested in "Pop's old junk" Now though..... I have a pretty good feeling I'm going to be trying to figure a way to carry the 5 (yes FIVE) complete flat head V8's up two flights of stairs to the back of my truck! All the stuff is rusty, but none of the sheet metal seems to be rusted through. It looks to me like a lot of it can (and will) be saved. I have to get down to my grandfathers old house. There are cars in the woods from the 20's up till about the 40's with a few later ones mixed in. I can clearly remember playing in a Ford GT350 that used to sit out front. No engine in it and for years my grandmother used to rag on him to "get that junk out of here!" Only now that I'm getting older and the good tin is getting scarce that I realize why he kept it all around! Don't worry guys, This stuff is going to make it out. I don't have anything brewing project-wise now so at least it can hit the classified boards and go to some good homes! Be on the lookout, and let me know if you see something you need / want. Damn. A trip into the basement turns into an automotive archeology expedition ! I hope you can bring those flatheads back to life !
I really don't have a use for them, but you better believe they are coming home with me! The only thing I have right now that needs an engine is an '89 VW Golf. Hummmm..... Wouldn't that be a good one... haha. A Ford flathead V8 powered MKII Golf!
Over on the Oddest Engine Combination thread there's a late 80's Nissan 240 with a flathead in it.....
Just pulled out an old Buick "Master" add on heater, and some headlight buckets. Tossing them up on the classified boards if anyone is interested. I would have loved to pull out a flathead, but these were much easier to carry! Anyone have any info on this heater? The buckets did have tilt-ray lenses in them, but by the time I got back to pick them up someone broke them for me.... Nice kids we have around here.

Rust? What rust? Those things are perfect as is! Get the truck cab out and start drivin it. Damn, I learned a lot hangin around some of ya, huh? Glad you're able to shag some of the stuff out. But it begs the question, how did it all get down there?
I see a lot of goodies there that will clean up just fine . The rest goes to the scrap yard and that money can be used for items to clean the good parts with . If not , use it for the beer ! Retro Jim
Good stuff your dad stashed away! I wish someone in my family did that, our barn is full of tractor parts and horse shit... I'm originally a PA boy too, but been out here in CA for ten years now. Have some Yuengling, and Middleswarth BBQ chips for me..... My favorite Eastern things you can't find out here on the left coast....
I sure hope you aren't allergic to mold. Those basement walls and floor look really nasty. Wouldn't be a bad idea to wear some kind of a respirator when you're down there ... I learned the hard way.
okay...it's all good....but since know one asked...HOW'D HE GET IT DOWN THERE?....just asking....the cab?...gots to be a back door somewhere....
All I need to come across now is a few lengths of 2x4 tubing and I've got a free car... haha. There used to be a freight elevator in the building, big enough to take a '27 buick down there. Too bad it was made out of wood.... It's long gone. The cab is actually on the ground floor. I think it's a '50-something White. Don't worry, I've already started pulling off the junk it's buried under. Looks like I'll be starting a build thread soon. @AstroZombie I was actually born in the same town they make Yuengling in. I'll make sure I put away a few for you. As for the Middlesworth, PM me your address! I'll get some out next trip to the post office!
Wow, I've been looking around at some prices and I really did hit the lotto here. Anyone have any ideas on how to CARRY those engines up 2 flights of stairs???
