What's a 62 F-85 with 78,000 miles on it worth if it's in really nice shape? It needs a little TLC, it runs and drives but it's really not too road worthy. Brakes need to be looked at (a little grabby) and the engine could use a tune up. (the generator is shot, runs good as long as the battery can last) The interior looks like it only had 30,000 or less miles on it, it's in very very good condition. The seats are great, no holes or rips or any signs of use really. The dash is perfect and the steering wheel is really nice too. The good, it's been in a shed it's whole life and the original owner took very good care of it. The bad part.. it's a 4 door. I know a guy that want's to sell it. I don't know what its worth. (prolly more than I'm willing to spend but it sure would be a cool work car.) <!-- / message --> <!-- / message -->
Its not exactly the same ,but I sold a 62 F-85 convertible with a 215 and automatic less than a year ago. It was complete and needed restoration for $750.00.
In 2002 we picked up a white '62 F85 very with 80k on it. New top, pristine interior, nice body, **** repaint, for $4500. Nice driving car too, 215 with auto. A more door in 2010 dollars? From what you described I'm thinking 500 to 750. I dig these Olds, and I'd love to see you save it.

I think $1000 to $1500 is fair. That is a bit more than some earlier suggestions, but if the interior is very nice and all it needs is some TLC, then you are on your way to a very nice daily driver, or a cruiser for you and the whole fam damily.
I gave $600 for a two door that was wrecked (New dog house) and was missing the 215 block about 3 years ago. I have about $1500 in it now and it runs and drives, but needs seats recovered and body work finished. These are neat little cars, even as a more-door...
I paid $1400 for my 62 F-85 wagon earlier this year. All original and complete but the car had been sitting in the desert for 30 years and needed a lot to be drivable. Be aware that parts for the 61-63 cars are virtually nonexistent and those that are available are expensive (like suspension and brake parts).
