I have a 1962 nova that i just put in a original style power steering unit in. I put steering fluid in it and started the car to bleed the system and when i went to turn the wheel the steering wheel went crazy!!! it was turning back and forth all by itself like it was posessed! any idea of what i might have done wrong or if it is a faulty steering pump or should i have used atf instead of power steering fluid?

I got the power brakes thing handled. it has a external vacuum. engine has a lumpy cam and doesn't create enough vacuum to power the brake booster. As far as the steering goes, i just went out there and switched the hoses that are on the ram itself and have no problem now. i guess you guys were right.
