On my way to get a 37 ford pick up I just bought. I have wanted one for many years and the right one has come along. I really like the old Lime Works shop truck. That truck is now owned by a friend here in town. I would have bought it if it was ever avalible but not ever the case. So anyway wondering how many other hiboy style pickups have been built. I don't want to include the chopped up dare I say " bobber" style chopped and channeled versions. Not to bag on that style, but thinking more like a bonniville push truck with the fenders removed and maybe a logo on the door. I'll post some pics later of this one. Thanks
I have a friend in Ill. that owns the old Mark Morton HopUp magazine 37. Stock appearing, original paint with dropped axle front SBC with 39 box etc. Sits right, looks bitchin, and goes any where.
Check out Bruce's shop truck......it's not a 37, but if that's the idea, I love it. That truck is totally badass.
any one got any pictures of the lime works truck. google didnt pull anything up and im not finding it in their website.
Thanks Gus, I knew you might have more pics of Floyds truck, I have some real bad ones from a party a few years ago, but needed some good clear ones. The other one is great too, exactly what I wanted to see.
ok here's the pics I promised. On the trailer is how I pulled it out of the barn, yes it was another barn find. Then when I got it home I had to set the grill on to get the full effect of how it will look as a hi boy. Kind of up in the air on the engine choice. The flatty in the truck is a rebuilt original so not the most desirable but does run good. I have an adapter and a 56 buick 322 that I think would look real cool and they do run nice. Thanks again for the pics guys.
I looked at that truck it was west of AA. I bought the steel rear fenders he had for 40 bucks..............keep us posted on progress.......
i have heard the the 37 was a one year only engine and that it should bring pretty good coin to a restorer.
Still sorting out the parts and planning. Called a coule of guys about dropping my axle rather than going aftermarket. Also found out a 4 inch drop i only about a inch and a half more than the stock i beam go figure. And the 21 stud flathead doesnt have much to offer in the speed parts department. I still plan on calling you about the extra parts too.
I'd want a drivetrain in it that I could trust to hit the interstate & GO! Personally, I'd go with a SBC, AOD, & 9". I like it as a highboy but I think a hood is a must. Running without one really starts to look like you're shooting for a "bobber" or "Rudy truck" look. Signage on the door could start to look like that too if you aren't careful. Great looking project. I can't wait to see it done. JH
Take a long look at Johnny Rottens AKA Fat Jacks sons 47 stock appearing PU. His green truck is just about as perfect as they get.
Thats kinda funny. My name is Rudy and I am going to put a logo on the door. But this will not be "bobber" style by any means. I will be running a hood and besides the absence of the fender the truck will appear very stock. And the interior will be bone stock as well. Thanks Root for the link to the pickup group, I had no idea.
