So I was sitting playing bass and watching "Route 66" on Netflix instant, and starting with episode 4, they've let in some of the "sponsored by Chevrolet" ads. I just saw this '61 Corvair truck commercial. I remember seeing a Rampside in a magazine several years ago with a big (Pontiac?) mill in the bed, and ever since, I've always liked the little pickup with the fold down side.
We had a red rampside. We found out that if you roll in 4 truck tires, the ramp won't close anymore because the truck body sags in the middle. And it throwed fanbelts better than Roy Rogers could throw his lariat. But it never got stuck, even in sugar sand.
yeah, my step-father had a bunch of Corvairs when I was a kid. Even then I didn't understand the 90 deg bend in the fan belt. I also learned how to not stick my feet through rusted out floor when the car was moving.
a guy i know bought one new.... he still has it and uses it sometimes so they couldn't have been all bad
Those Rampsides are gonna become a lot more popular in coming years. That ramp makes loading and unloading a mobility scooter a breeze. I hadn't thought of that until I saw a guy loading his at a show this summer. Two people, two scooters, 1 Rampside.
There was a local one that would cruise the Mighty Mo once in a while. It was "just" a SBC. but it was a driver. Just like the picture, he'd put the ramp down when showing off at the Mo. ..,probably very early 70s. I was driving a stock Greenbrier at the time.
