Hello everyone I'm a newbie from Switzerland that got infected by the Hot Rod and Rat Rod "virus". I don't own a Hot Rod or Rat Rod yet, but am planning to do so in the future. I got infected at an early age; on my way to primary school I crossed a car garage that specialized in American Cars, basically the first time I saw old Pick-Ups, Corvettes, Mustangs and occasionally there were some astonishing Hot Rods in front of the garage. These cars got my attention in particular; they're a pretty rare sight in Switzerland anyway. As I grew older, my love and p***ion for all things American skyrocketed. Best thing I ever experienced was a one year college program I did in San Diego. One year of Californian sun - and lots of car shows and races! That's also when my interest in Hot Rods started to grow again - and the first time I saw a Rat Rod. As of today, I have no technical skills or money, time and place to start my own project yet. But you gotta know what you want before, and I think it's never wrong to get some information on a couple of things. So the next few days and weeks I'll probably be reading through the forum. In my free time I try to become a better photographer It's my biggest p***ion next to cars. Also, I always try to find some American cars to shoot. If the weather allows, I'll get a shooting with an old Mercury police car (a '56 I guess). Not a Hot Rod, but hey, at least some American Muscle Here are two of my favorite shots to date - the Rad Rod truck might well be known. And it's THE car that got me into Rat Rods:
Just trying to help you out cause you undoubtly didn't read the first post on this page ***led STICKY. With all the rat talk you will need to invest in a fire proof suit because your about to be set afire. Please go back and read the STICKY and you will lean more about this place......
Hello I actually did read it, even before I posted my newbie thread. As mentioned I'm into all of it. Where I am from, we hardly see any of them, so whether it be a Hot Rod or a Rat Rod, I like'em. Or let me put it that way: I'm not too much into 100% perfection and "like new" condition on old cars, I prefer them how they are. If the paint isn't perfect, so what. That kinda thing (is there an expression for that?). And from the couple of threads I already checked out here, it seems as if I'm just about right here - so sorry if my first post led to a misunderstanding (could also be that my understanding of rat rod is off track from the general understanding, then I'll hurry up learning that!!). I'm here to learn about Hot Rods, models, technical things etc
