recently a 48 chrysler windsor came into my possesion and ever since I've been fixing and researching the ins and outs of this beast. The wires coming off of the fluid drive trans have been cut and the carb comes from a 50s flat v-8 i know the two are supposed to be linked together to assist shifting. my question is can i hot wire a switch to the selenoid to activate first and third and whats the best way. or whats an easy swap for a trans i'm not expecting a miracle fix. thanks again

Can't help you with the wiring questions, but if you want a stick shift setup, you need a '53 or '54 Dodge or DeSoto flyhweel, clutch, T/O brg & collar and manual transmission with the very long input shaft. That permits using the original bellhousing and mounts and everything else pretty much bolts up. Now, I'm not sayin' that stuff is easy to find, but it's out there. I've done this swap twice to delete Fluid Drive and Gyromatic trannies.
