I went saturday for the day just like I have for years. What a waste maybe a third the number of cars as in the past. Not sure if it was because of the change in dates or what. But after paying $20.00 entry fee I saw everything in about an hour then was bored to death and left.
I drove 1 1/2 hours each way for this. Sorry but I probably won't be back.

I still don't understand why they moved it so far out in the sticks
it's too far to expect people to haul a project

Is it still in Elma?? Last couple years we have been and the turnout is less each year. Was alot more fun when it was in Graham.....Alan

wow thats sad. just over 200 cars this year. My sons 14&16 took their project. Actually the older one drove it to the show on his learners permit. At one point I counted 23 people gathered around watching them flame their beat up truck. They drove home with their award in hand and "perma grin" on thier faces. they had NO CLUE if it was a bad show. They attacked it with entusiasm and p***ion. i dont beleive they were worried about the turn out they were to INVOLVED in it. They enjoyed talking to people and asking questions.
i only went to 4 shows this year. 3 were down in Oregon I drove 4hrs-2.5 hrs and 2 hrs. 4hrs ti Mcminnville for the Lions Fly-Cruise in. around 110 cars. But the best people you will ever meet. $10 entry and the best breakfast Ive ever had at any show. 2.5 hrs to the Bomber on Mcgloughlin simply because i always liked that plane. 2hrs to Radkes Customer Aprecciation Show. there were about 30 cars driven there by a great lot. i went simply because i wanted to show that I aprecciate THEM.

maybe the car count was down because people finished they're cars.

It's really gone down hill since moving to Elma.....Although the drive from Puyallup through Yelm and Rochester was fantastic,

fastrnu I liked your "T" Funk & Ugly. needs a little taken off the top though. I thougt it was a good show, i wished more cars would have went on the cruise to the cottage, maybe next year.... A buddie and I drove down 4 1/2 hrs to the show and we stayed for the three days to help out the Customs NorthWest organizers. Ill be going back.

I haven't been in several years simply because I didn't have anything to drive there and it hits right at the time I take my boat out for a couple of weeks.

But it is really "out in the sticks" after all it is a grand total of 89 miles from Down town 'Seattle and a big 61.6 miles from Puyallup. It's also 204 miles from me but I get to go over Chinook P*** and that alone makes it a worth while trip.

TomP64 I think it is more that there is so much going on right when that event is scheduled. Hot August nights for one and several other big PNW events. But you may be right in a way because where the primered or unfinished cars were usually the poor stepchild at regular events they are pretty well accepted now. That means that a lot of guys who wouldn't pull a primered or somewhat unfinished car out of the garage before except for the Unfinished Nationals doesn't bat an eye at rolling into events now.

Still I met some of the greatest people I know at different Unfinished Nationals over the years that I went on a regular basis and that alone makes it worth the trip.

  11. WOW, Radkes still in business!! Bought my first Sun tach w/transmitter from them in the late 50s for my 56 F 100, numerous parts after that. Glad to hear they have survived!!! GREAT!!!

I used to live around there. That's so far out in the sticks that the question I have isn't why was attendance down from previous years, but how they got so many cars before.
