ive been working on a 30 model a pickup and recently through my hunting for parts was given the back half of a model a sedan. ive seen a few pictures of sedans cut down to make ext. cab pickups but was wondering if anyone has grafted a sedan to a pickup. any info or suggestions would be appreciated.

just thinking of adding some extra room making it look like a five window coupe with a bed, the truck had a pretty bad chop and some bad body work when i got it no floor or subrails and the back was already rough. the trucks going to have a 331 hemi and be highly modified so if your a original kinda guy let me apologize in advance.

Tack it together and see what it looks like. It's only metal, if you hate it then it can easily be fixed!

Right, don't go crazy; its all about proportions. The truck in the pic is a 6.5" stretch, the other two are from random posts on here.

If you have a true '30 pickup it's worth a lot more $$-wise as is. I would sell the pickup and build the extended cab version from scratch using derelict sheetmetal.

If this was an un-chopped cab in better than fair shape, I can see keeping it in near stock proportions. But the guy says this one is kinda roached already, and with a bad chop, too.

Not that I'm a big advocate for rat rodding everything in sight, mind you, but some of you guys sound like a bunch of grumpy antiquer's instead of hot rodders.

Speedways extended cab is a 34, with enough work you could probably make a model A extended cab that looks right.

ya the proportions have to be right on to look good. don't get me wrong i love the original look but for a daily driver with a 4 1/2 in chop there's just not that much room. considering how much i paid for it and the condition it was in, im not gonna loose any sleep at night if i modify it.

Yep, (not ford) Built from derelict 4-door sheetmetal, my '29 Chivvy truck. Most admirin' nimrods call it a Model A anyhow..:D

Sometimes there is a real good reason they build them kinda the same. I've seen some tragic works of individuality p***ed off as a hot rod. Just tell me you are doing a suicide front end and I'll know where this project is going.

Take a look at HAMBer gtkane's 25 Chevy extended cab build. While this sort of thing will never really be tradional, as in could've seen it in the '50's little books, think of it as a factory phantom; something that could have been built in Detroit.

I dont think regular A sedans should be chopped up for ext cab pickups.
thats what Briggs sedans are for.
at least thats what ive done with mine!

Is it to be a restoration? No? A hot rod you say? Any other questions?

I think Mike Van Zetten hit the nail on the head with the hot rod extended cab pickup seen here. I like this thing from every angle and must confess that I plan to take my slant window fordor and building something very similar!
