For those of you actually driving the 60 61 62 63 Ford Facons or Falcon station wagon and using radials ...

Does any one have 175/80-13 on the stock wheels?

I have been using 185/80-13s on drivers, and they have been great.

    Problem...
They have been hard to find in 185/80 to be wider, but old-fashioned & "tall", but 2 big nemes were doing them until recently.

There were Hankook H714s with a 3/4 WW that could be widened to 1" to look almost like 1960s tires, (then the China tire tax thing happened - so they are unavailable)...

and the Friestone FR380 with a 1/2 thin whitewall.
They are now on backorder with every Friestone supplier I tried in the region.

Corvair people also buying these also as a compromise between "too modern" radials and $$$$ "correct" bias tires.

Question - I can get some leftover stock of 175/80-13 in the Firestone FR380, but have never seen these on a Falcon. Seems like it's be a lot narrower, and I'd maybe just get repro. biaas tires if so.
...would like to see if anyone has a radial in that exact size of
175-80-13 on one of these cars...could I see a picture?

It's an odd size, but...? THANKS.

I moved up to 14" wheels to get a better choice of tires but even 14's can be a problem in some sizes I am told.

Our little Ranchero ('62) has 175/70-13 on it. They look a little short, but I'll be lowering this just a bit to compensate for it. Should work well.

Check with Pep Boys. When I was running 13's, they had a good selection.

    Guys - THANKS!

The 175's won't look that different than the 185/80 did then - good.

I'm going to pick up the last 2 sets the local retailer has of the 175/80/13 then.

These Firestones have a cool little 1/2" WhiteWall (where most modern ones are the basic 3/4"), so I am going to "make" some redlines with them!

$50. /each might as well try.

And the Pep Boys suggestion - they're good for some odd sizes, I know too. Thanks.

Firestone still carries the 185 /80/13. I have tried other sizes such as the 175/70/13 and they ****ED. WAAAY too small and the RPMs were through the roof. Too much wear on the engine, drive train and fule costs go up. I had to drive from Oregon to Austin with those ****ty things. The guys at the Falcon forum recommended the 185/80/13 and I love them and you will too. Dont get the 175/80/13.

I think I paid 50 bucks at Firestone.

The stock number on these is FR380.
