    Buddy-Where are you getting these numbers. I think you are looking at 2009 results.

    Rich, you're right! I looked under today's records, but they have 2009 results still posted.

    I updated with the correct info!

  4. Hey folks ,
    Thanks for all the support . We started off on the wrong foot this year with a couple tech issues that cost me $'s and time . I don't want to discuss it yet, as it is / was an unfortunate call for me. Put me behind the 8 ball for tune and test. We had a real hard time with detination / lean heat through the 3 mile. WORKED timing , fuel preasure and jetting for 3 days , burned # 8 piston on the last run. BUT ... I did have the record at the 2-1/4 , lost the piston at the 2-3/4.
    Motor is out this morning and delivered back to Automotive Machine in Albuquerque. Doug Anderson is "on it" { he builds a hell of a motor, the melt down is entirely MY fault}
    We are going to push Arias for a set of pistons and be back in October for World Finals.
    Thanks again for all the support.

    sorry to hear that...Salt Cat burned a piston in their straight eight this year too...they make good power right at the lean piston melting point and it's a real temptation to go there...fat is sluggish but safe, huh?!! Hope you can do it at World Finals...Good Luck !

  6. I had at least a dozen melted piston guys come by the pits.
    Srange mojo Speedweek ???

    Tho...I am looking forward to next year already.

    The Salt Cat is going back on the trailer with the "Big" engine, and we'll head back to the Salt with a little more power to see if we can get a "Red" hat with the old straight 8. This one has 37 more Cu In than the one we ran at Speed Week, and it ran 193 MPH on the run just prior to losing some pistons. If you don't walk on the edge, you'll never know how far you can go. [Get's expensive, though].

    Buick guy--Is that head cut and welded to make it a 16 port engine? I had heard that ***ol buses had 16 port Buicks in them but the only ***ol I ever looked at had a regular old 12 port Buick.

    No. Just used a drill press, a chop saw, a die grinder , and a lot of epoxy.[ Oh Ya! and 1000 hours of work]. My partner Frank[Henry]Morris spent that much time on it last Winter. All stock casting. I've heard of the bus motors, but never seen one. Not even on the internet.

    Jeff,
    Here's a short video of the first warmup of the 367 inch motor we just finished to go back to the Salt for World Of Speed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-8JwyoFh6E . Hope it's ready to load for the trip next week.

  20. Hey Luck,

    I just dropped the replacement, new Holley Red fuel pump and some "thank you" top shelf BOMBSHELL BETTY / BROCKS ROCKETS support shirts , in the mail .
    {to replace the H & H / Old Crow speed shop Holley "loner" at Speedweek.}
    I can't thank you guys enough for being there for me, under presure!

    Thanks again .
    We'll see you... in IMPOUND at World Finals.

    Looking forward,

    Jeff Brock

  21. I spent the day at Albuquerque Dyno Serive yesterday.

    That big block Buick and my crazy long leg intake was fightin us.
    Gary is a good dyno man . He stayed with it, we worked it HARD!

    October World Finals ... here we come!

    Looks good Jeff!

    How many ponies is it going to put out?

  23. I'm humbled to admit...my 1950 Buick I-8 big block ...with my "race budget" = 277 hp. @ 5000 rpm.
    NOT what I wanted , but these are real tough motors to get / set right.

    You sound disappointed, but that's a big increase on an engine! 124hp stock, right?

    ...and it sets records!

  25. I am real pleased that she ran strong at 5000. I'll push it to 5500 on the salt, to make up for "salt slip".
    But she quit making HP at 5100.{typical for the I-8}
    Overall I'm very pleased.

    Jeff, it was great meeting you yesterday!

    The video is great, but the car sounds a whole lot meaner when you're standing next to the exhaust.

    Good luck at World Finals!

  27. Thanks Buddy.
    That was a great meeting.
    I can't wait to see your Cadillac Flathead FLY!!!
    I sure am grateful for your help with the delivery the McMeekim BuicK big straight 8

    I wish you lived closer.
